Bargain HP Laserjet Enterprise 500 Color M551DN

CLJ ENT 500 M551DN 33PPM-DUPLX NTWK GOV EURO 220V
  • Item is New in Box

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Careful! This is for a 220 V Printer.. Not for the US
Don't make the same mistake we did. We didn't catch that this is a 220 volt printer so now we are stuck trying to convert this beast down to our 110 volt outlets. (Lesson learned!)

UPDATE 03/1/9/12
We have successfully gotten this printer to work in our 110V outlets. Overall the printer gets the job done but we have many of the same problems we've always had with HP Laser printers and terrible customer support. While the print quality is excellent, I feel for the price we could have gotten a better quality printer.

1. It might last forever....
I don't review a lot of stuff.... in fact very seldom do I review anything. But, this morning I was moved to review the HP LJ 4700 when I printed out the "Usage Page"; Wow.

The report says we've run 229,567 letter sized sheets through this printer since we started using it some 5 or 6 years ago. All of the paper that goes through it is 85 pound stuff used in mailings, and all of the printed materials are color. I'm sure I'll jinx the reliability by saying all this, but, up to now, we've not had any problems other than stuff that was traced back to the refurb cartridges we use almost exclusively.

I might also mention that it has been used by about 5 different people in our company and some of us slam it around a pretty good bit. It will be in heavy use for months at a time, then will sit idle for months. And, of course, we use refurbished cartridges of who-knows-what kind of origin. In short, we use it hard much of the time.

I must say that I'd...

Excellent Printer, Workhorse.
We have three of these printers in our offices. They are reliable, dependable, and quick. The ink cartridges last a long time. The only downsize is the printer is big and heavy. Excellent for text, reports, newsletters, where multiple copies are required.

Konica Minolta Magicolor 4750DN Color Laser Printer 31PPM 4800X600 DPI

Buy Konica Minolta Magicolor 4750DN Color Laser Printer 31PPM 4800X600 DPI

Konica Minolta magicolor 4750DN Laser Printer A0VD012 749
  • Ultra-compact at 16.5x13 (W x H) and less than 60 pounds
  • Prints 31 ppm color and B&W, delivering the first page in just 12.9 seconds
  • Color printers is equipped with the powerful Emperon Print System with 800 MHz CPU & 256 MB DDR2 RAM
  • Planet friendly, thanks to Simitri HD toner with Biomass, a renewable organic resource
  • Konica Minolta magicolor printers print in brilliant high-definition color with 600 x 600 DPI resolution

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. A good printer for the money
After quite a bit of research and reading a lot of printer reviews I settled on the Konica Minolta 4750 DN. The product arrived within 7 days of my order (I live in Hawaii - so this was pretty quick as it goes). The installation of the drivers and network configuration was a snap using the disk they provided. Based on one of the reviews here that the duplex printing capability required technical support, the very first thing i tried was to duplex print. After eating the first page through and jamming, I then tried again and it worked perfectly. The next thing I tried was color printing. I picked a fairly complex graphic and the print came out with wild colors that were nothing like what was in the graphic. After trying a number of calibration settings, reading the manual etc., I finally broke down and called technical support. I was on hold for 5-7 minutes before a very knowlegeable and nice tech support rep picked up and helped me. He immediately identified the problem which...

2. Fantastic budget laser - but expensive toner!
This is a great budget color laser printer. The quality of the product and the printed material are very good. All my printed pages are even, not over-saturated, and consistent from page 1 to page 100 over multiple print jobs. The printer is fast, easy to operate, solidly built and relatively quiet (especially once it goes to sleep!).

My only two complaints (minor) are:
1) The colors are not as "rich" as I would like. I have tried multiple color settings, but just can't get really deep blues or reds, even thouh I am using high quality laser paper. Photo paper might help, but this is for business letterhead and professional workshop handouts, so I can't really use photo stock.

2) The toner is super expensive. I have not had to replace the toner yet, but the full set of 4 high yield toner cartridges costs $440! This is almost as much as the printer itself. Too keep costs down, I only use this printer for business and keep my old HP Laserjet around for large...

Konica Minolta Magicolor 4750DN
I highly recommend the Magicolor 4750DN for anyone who desires dependability, speed, and low cost color production. At 31ppm, this printer runs circles around the others, and the cost per print is exceptionally reasonable with large toner containers that hold a greater volume than most others.

Also, with a 9600 dpi, the picture quality is superb. I am VERY happy with this printer and consider it a very wise investment.

HP 5500 Color LaserJet Printer

Buy HP 5500 Color LaserJet Printer

22PPM 96MB 1500+ SHEET TRAYWhether printing brochures or spreadsheets, newsletters or business presentations, the HP Color LaserJet 5500 provides high-quality documents while meeting all your time-critical deadlines through in-house printing. Featuring inline printing technology--using a "direct to page" process--the 5500 transfers toner directly to the paper, ensuring exceptional print quality. This technology also supplies a true rarity among printers: you can expect your color pages to print ...
  • 600 x 600 dpi resolution, 400 MHz processor, 96 MB RAM
  • 21 ppm in monochrome and color, just 18 seconds to first page out
  • Optional input capacity of 1,600 sheets
  • Bidirectional parallel port, Fast Infrared (FIR) port
  • Network options with 3 open EIO slots

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Color LaserJet 5500 HDN review
This printer is amazing. The color LaserJet 5500HDN model comes with (3) 500 sheet trays + a 100 Page multipurpose tray. It comes with a network card,HD,Duplexor and a stand to roll the printer around. It is capable of printing up to 11x17 paper and custom sizes. This printer was very easy to assemble ( less then 10 minutes) and was on the network in seconds. Color matching is superb. It was able to print very demanding documents in short order. It really prints at 21PPM in full color. I printed over 500, full bleed 11x17 prints in just over 3 hours. This is like printing 2000 sheets of 8x11 at a speed of 11.3 PPM. This really tested the printer's endurance and its calibration cycle. It surprised me how easy it was to install the toner cartridges. I haven't experienced a paper jam yet, but if I did, there is a small path to follow to locate jams, and easily remove paper. There aren't 14 secret doors to open to remove paper. It really has done a good job handling the work load I put...

2. Printer Workhorse with Good Color
The HP 5500 is a great tabloid (11x17) printer. Very good speed and color. Have had no problems. Print speed is as advertised. Toner cartridges hold plenty of toner - though they are expensive. Black and white printing is also great.

Machine is rugged. Buttons and trays are well built. LCD infomation screen is readable and easy to understand.

My model has the extra tray and stand with duplexer and network card. I do not have a hard-drive in my model. Memory is ample for printing tabloid size photos, engineering drawings, and documents. Lengthy letter size documents are no problem. Have not had a single time-out. Another HP winner.

This blows away other printers....
I have had an HP 5500 Color LaserJet printer for 6 years. There is very little that this printer can not do! Love the ability to print 11 x 17 and wide variety of paper types. The toners are expensive but last a long time. The print quality is superb and the speed makes quick work of any project I have. Large paper tray and easy to access bypass tray. I would keep this printer forever but space and needs are making me look for a multi function printer. This is a great printer for a graphic artist, school, or anyone that demands high quality color printing. You will not be disappointed. Be aware that it is a pretty good sized piece of equipment.HP 5500 Color LaserJet Printer

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Oustanding MFP Color LASER for a great price
OK I have to brag, had a friend at Dell give me a 17% off discount when I ordered my computer system. Then he emails me a 30% off coupon for a printer and asked if I needed one. Wasn't planning on getting a printer, but with that discount I had to see what was available. When I saw the 30% was ADDED to the 17% system discount I had to jump on it. Bottomline it cost me $380! LOL

It's pretty new but I managed to find one review to make sure it was good before I bought it. Am I Glad I did. Just found another review at MacWorld that placed it second to the $800 Xerox, basically because the Xerox is more quiet.

Even at the regular price of $650 it's a great buy. Manufacturers are notorious for BS on their print speeds, but this thing smokes! It's very close to the 23 ppm advertised speed, but what's really amazing is how quick it spits out the first page.

The important part, flash and features aside, the print quality on black and white text is...

2. Why doesn't everyone have one?
I'm a computer professional running a small business. I've had this printer for about a year now, and have run several thousand sheets of paper through it. It is hard to see why anyone would look elsewhere for a printer.

There are four models 2150 is printer only, 2155 includes scanner. cn is single sided, cdn includes duplexer. This is about my 2155cdn, but should apply to others. The printer is fast. It is high quality. It is designed for heavy use. The duplexer makes double sided printing a breeze. Toner replacements are a bit costly, but last a long time, so aren't really expensive. Each color is individually replaceable. The quality is good enough that we print our Christmas letter on it, which is mostly photos. No, it's not competition for a true photo quality printer on glossy paper, but its close enough to be tempting, and stands up to abuse (such as water) much better. I rarely turn on my photo printer any more. Scanning and FAXing are simple and work...

Dell 2155cn: The BEST Ever...No question!
We ordered this item from Amazon with a quick delivery and have used this printer for three months now and we all agree that THIS IS THE BEST SMALL OFFICE/HOME PRINTER EVER...that's right...EVER! If you have had it with the unreliability of ink jets, and the price of ink, and finding that it is less expensive to buy a whole new inkjet printer than to buy just the multiple ink cartridges, and the pain of finding that if you try to conserve and not use the ink jet ink then it dries out and is lost any way, and running to the store every week or two when you are out of ink because then ink jets don't hold squat in amount...then...stop the aggravation and buy the Dell 2155cn.

You will wonder why you didn't make this move a long time ago! This printer is super reliable, faster than any of our previous ink jets, makes perfect copies, easy scans, and a myriad of other functions. We have printed a thousand pages and can't tell that any of the laser ink cartridge has been...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. The "lasting impression" that I got was they don't care about their customers
Leave a "lasting impression"? The lasting impression that I got was Lexmark does not care whatsoever about its' customers.

I purchased this printer new and it was fine until it died 3 weeks later to the day. Because the printer was still under warranty I had to work directly with Lexmark customer service. Lexmark sent out a repair person but with the speed in which this printer expired I requested a replacement printer as I had no confidence that the original printer would last even a year given what happened in only 3 weeks. The Lexmark customer service refused.

In the meantime I am making daily trips to my local copy store to print the materials and those trips quickly get expensive in time and money.

So eventually Lexmark finally sent another printer. Guess what? No great surprise, it arrived broken. Hinge broken, scanner does not work and it makes such a grinding noise when printing that I cannot have a phone conversation at the same time...

2. Its GREAT
I was concerned when I ordered but I received the printer as promised and in great working shape.

I have used it no stop since my purchase and have been very well pleased with the product

DOA
My new printer arrived yesterday. Got it unpacked and setup. turned it on, went through some initial setup...country, time zone etc. then I got a red blinking light with the error message "31.06 error. Defective imaging kit". google turned up nothing good so I called their technical support, which turned out to be quite good. The walked me through opening, removing the ink and the imaging kit and replacing it all. Unfortunately could not get all the toners back in so they are sending me a new blue toner and a new imaging kit fedex overnight. will follow up on review after receiving their new parts. Unfortunately for me I bought it direct from Lexmark or it would be heading back to amazon.....

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. hidden reset features to save money on toners!!!
This printer will tell you when you are out of toners and need new ones. And when you are out with just one of the color toner, this printer will not allow you to print anything until you replace it with the new toner.

So here is how to override these problem, and you decide when the toner needs to be changed... and not the printer.

1. Slide out the toner trays and put a piece of black electrical tape over the sensors on each color toner. This will make the print think that it has full toner.

2. If you already see "Replace Toner" messages, just RESET it by opening the front COVER and pressing CANCEL and REPRINT together. Scroll up and down to reset desired toner.

3. If you think you have more life and juice left on its drum and laser parts, just reset it and forget it! Open the COVER, and hold down GO and hit UP (+) button. Scroll through the menu to select and reset!!!!

After the "replace toner" message, I reset the counter, and...

2. Best Buy for the Money
I researched and found that cartridges for this machine are a lot cheaper than those for HP's and the toner that comes with the printer has a page yield of 1500 color and 2500 b&w. The Hp's came with toner that had only 750 page yield then you had to pay approx $140 for the toner cartridges for replacement when with this one you can purchase toner cartridges for right around $70 which is half the price with more page yield. So far I have printed 450 pages on the starter cartridges and the toner amount has not lowered and the print quality is excellent!

Brother envelope issues; this helped!
I purchased the Brother HL-4040CDN in June 09, after reading all the reviews I could find. Some people mentioned a problem printing envelopes but I thought that was just a random problem;but soon found that every envelope I printed was creased and wrinkled. I tried every Printer Properties option - envelope type, paper type, thicker paper, etc. I researched all the Brother website troubleshooting help for printer, paper feeding and envelope issues, and tried it all. Nothing worked. Then, I went to Solution Center, FAQs: "envelopes wrinkle and crease" I found this one thing that helped tremendously. Very insignificantly listed as the last option: Open the back door of the printer and move the Envelope levers down, these are two grey levers next to the green levers on the fuser unit. Make sure to leave the grey levers down for envelope printing only. When done printing envelopes return the grey lever to the original position or UP position for use with regular paper.

It is...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. UPDATED: STILL a Great Home/Small Biz Color Laser Printer
I purchased the '4070' when I was getting tired of paying for the ink cartridges in my HP DeskJet 6840, especially for 'everyday' home printing (online order confirmations, homework, drawings, etc.) I was also looking for a printer to operate on a Mac network. This one is great! The wireless feature allows you to 'plop' this thing down wherever there's a power cord and setup is fairly easy. It's a single-pass unit (e.g. color and B&W printing are the same print speed) and has duplexing built in. Does a 'realistic' job with color photos (not overly saturated). I don't think it's too noisy as previous reviews have stated, but it's certainly not as quiet as an inkjet. The cartridges are neatly laid out in a removable 'drum' tray, making changeout that much easier. I particularly like the LCD display with 3 backdrop colors (green for 'everythings okeydokey', amber for 'I'm in maintenance mode, so don't bother me' and red for 'Help!'. This screen tilts out so you can read it more easily as...

2. Good but not great
I own a small business and I needed a printer to high volume jobs, including eye catching color, and a clean presentation. After a week of solid research on the internet (there aren't many reliable resources), I was down to the decision between the HP and Brother.

After speaking with a very informed salesperson at Office Max, I decided to go with the Brother. Well rated, quick output, and the consumables cost was also low. However, upon getting the unit home, I quickly noticed something annoying. (This ended up being a deal breaker for me; however, it may not bother some people.)

The final paper product comes out of the printer with curled edges. Literally, the top and bottom edge of the paper stock comes out curled. If I set the paper on a desk top, the curl is pretty significant - just under thumb height. I waited over four days on one batch of paper and it remained curled. I tried 20, 24, 28 and even 32 pound laser and color laser paper. No change. Now the...

Excellent Color Laser Printer
We needed a printer to print a fairly large volume of B&W and color notes and slides for my wife, who is in vet school. My Canon iP6000D, which is a great photo printer by the way, just wasn't cutting it speed-wise, since she prints maybe 100 pages of color notes a week, usually all at once. Ink was killing us, too. So, I knew we needed a color laser printer with built-in duplex, which cuts down on the number of pages she has to pack around. It would also save us a bunch on ink, since laser toner goes a lot further.

Now I'm pretty picky when it comes to electronics purchases, so I did a lot of reading. After the positive reviews for this printer on Amazon I made the leap and got this one. I'm very glad I did.

SETUP

First of all, this thing is pretty heavy, something like 75 pounds in the box. The UPS man was glad to be rid of it. It's all assembled out of the box, just a bunch of tape to take off, etc. Directions are easy to follow. It just...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Just what I expected.
Purchasing supplies for my inkjet printer was running up the $$$. Remembering the old days when we had the office Laserwriter, reminded me how many prints you could get on one cartridge.
We stopped by the local Office Max to see what was available. I thought I was in the market for a mono laser printer. The knowledgeable sales person showed us the 315. I asked him to print a couple of pages and was satisfied with the output. I would have purchased it on the spot, however they didn't carry the 315W... and I wanted a wireless printer.
This gave me time to come home and check it out on the net. The reviews ran the gamete from "Great" to "Don't buy". After consuming reviews till I was dizzy, I decided to place my order on Amazon. I had the printer in 3 days...all in good order.
After trying it out for a few days here is what i Have found out.

Negative reviews. I really don't get this... Anyone who has been around laser printers knows that inkjet photos are far...

2. Completely dead after 3 years....
** UPDATE **

Having owned this printer for approximately three years (2011), it has always worked until the other day it simply "died" completely. The red light flashes, no print jobs go through. I contacted Samsung via Twitter for assistance and was referred to a local repair shop. Repair shop suggested it was the "main board...and sensors" that needed repair to the tune of $85-$95. Samsung Customer Service via Twitter was helpful but far from understanding. I was asked for the SN# and if I still had the receipt, I gave them all information except the receipt I no longer had....I was told no exceptions can be made, their decision was final, and there was nothing they could do. They were clearly less-than-enthusiastic about standing behind their product or offering to meet me half-way on a repair.

HP sells a comprable Laserjet for $199 MSRP (less on Amazon), it's not worth paying 1/2 the price of a new one to get the old one repaired. I've owned several printers...

Setup ok, color ok, wireless feature ++, buy more toner... now
I bought this on 3 Dec through Amazon. Normal great delivery and packaging. Setup was ok - although minimal instructions like other reviewers have said. Used a Cat5 cable to my router, logged in, changed the IP and pw, and no issues.

Had a bit of trouble with the paper cartridge - didn't realize it stuck out (no pictures indicated that) and it's pretty cheap / thin plastic so I didn't want to use too much oomph. But eventually figured it out and I'm comfortable with putting paper in and out (needed for double sided printing).

Just finished printing 120 Christmas letters with color pics embedded - 2 pages, front and back, so about 450 pages total. And the black toner is hollering "low!" so I ordered another (supposedly 1.5k pages) from Amazon - $43. Seems a bit soon to me, but there it is.

Cyan cartridge now needs "shaking" every 10 pages or so or it doesn't fill in where it should - and the "guage" is still showing 30% available.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. You get what you pay for
You get what you pay for! You are buying the cheapest laser printer on the market. IF you want the best quality, the fastest printer, the highest paper capacity, etc, you will not find it with the cheapest price tag. With that being said, I had realistic expectations with this printer, and they were fulfilled. I print about 100 pages a day to market to my clients. Works fine. if you have high expectations, spend twice the money. It's a simple as that.

2. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
I bought this printer on an amazing Black Friday $99 deal thinking that it would be more economical than my inkjet for printing out the 360 pages I needed for my family's holiday newsletter. It was an unfortunate mix of good and bad...

GOOD: Small, looks nice, great price, toner relatively inexpensive, quiet, hooking it up to the Mac was a breeze. Full page photo print on premium laser paper was the best I've seen on a color laser, not as good as an inkjet running photo paper, but much better than an inkjet using plain paper.

These are all great plusses, but it wasn't all rosy.

BAD: When refeeding the paper back into the hopper to print on the back side, the printer jammed every couple of pages. The added friction of the toner on the bottom side really messed with it. The paper curled a bit and I tried to flatten as best as possible, but it kept on jamming.
Text: I thought the text was not as sharp as it could be and when I compared it to the text...

Fast, Quiet, Quality, Inexpensive (I don't want to say cheap that can be confused)
I recently purchased this printer at Staples in Los Angeles, Ca. I was dismayed that while the printer had been out for near a month (supposedly) no one had reviewed it on any website I could find (tech saavy website or purchasing website such as this). So I decided that even though reviews aren't my normal thing I'd take a shot so everyone else could have a jumping off point.
This is my 3rd printer, first laser. My first printer was a pos hp top loading seriously cheapest printer you could buy during college sort of thing. It sucked. I still have and own my second printer an HP PSC 2410xi photosmart all in one. Why did I buy HP after my first experience? I don't know I think it was a good deal or something. It was a good choice. My only complaint with that printer is one the cost of ink refills, and two the scanner quickly developed a marking on the underside of the glass from the scanner ribbon touching the glass. This is fixable/cleanable but you have to take the...

Samsung CLX-3185 Color Printer with Scanner & Copier

  • CLX-3185 Color Laser Multifunction, 17 Ppm(black), 4 Ppm(color), Up To 2,400 X 6
  • Compact, Fast and Robust Color Laser Printer to fit in any environment
  • Versatile Functionalities with Print, Copy and Scanning Features
  • Hprint Screen button allows you to print quickly whatever is on your screen

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Lots of features and decent quality for the money
This is a multifunction printer but be aware it only scans, copies, and prints. This model has no fax or wireless capability. That was a good trade-off for me. The printer is nicely built and has easy to access cartridges. The prices for the cartridges seems pretty good for the rated output so this seems like a good value for the occasional color print user. Unlike an inkjet printer the color laser doesn't mind going a long time without use. Black and white text printing is outstanding. Color printing is good and is of consumer grade. To save energy, and this printer is 850 watts when warmed up, there are built-in energy saving features like auto stand-by after 15 minutes. I leave it off and turn it on when needed. There is a about a 45 second warm up period. B/W printing is fast after the first print, color is slower but meets my needs.

Color copying and scanning work well with good quality output. It is really nice to have color copying at a such an affordable price. I...

2. seems good
***warning-- not wireless capable***
***warning-- not network capable***
***warning-- USB cable necessary but not included***

I just got this printer. It's a great size for what it does, it looks nice, and the first print job came out beautifully. One annoyance is that there was no USB cable included. In order to use the printer, you will need a USB cable of the kind that printers use (with the squarish connector on one end). It does say on the box that the USB cable is not included, but that was not apparent when I was ordering on line. Also, I was surprised to find out the printer is not wireless or even network capable (Samsung makes similar models that are wireless capable--look for N, W, or FW tacked onto the model number). Because it's not networkable, you cannot plug it into your router and use it as a network printer. In order to share it on a network, you have to either share it from the computer that you plug it into, or get a wireless router that...

Perfect Home Office Color Laser printer
Picked this up on black Friday for under $100 shipped. Wow! I never imagined the day where I could buy a color laser printer for that kind of price. It's fairly compact. It's quiet and prints very well. I'm replacing my inkjet all in one and much prefer this for daily use. I like not having to worry about inks drying out, streaking on certain papers, etc. Love that I don't have to worry about buying new cartridges all the time. Black yields 1500 pages! That's about 2.6 cents a page. Not bad! This is a great machine that I can definitely recommend. Scanner works well. Wished I could have gotten the step up model with document feeder but for 3 times the price I could not justify it. Even for twice what I paid it's a bargain.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Orientation issues
This is a great printer. My only complaint - orientation. Often times I will print something landscape but it prints portrait thereby cutting off the image. There doesn't seem to be any hard and fast rule to this. So far, I'm batting about 20%. I tried physically changing the paper. It worked at first. But this morning I had landscape selected, loaded the paper landscape and sure enough, the image truncated. A bit humbug.

Lexmark Professional, Workgroup C540dw Wireless Color Laser Printer

Bargain Lexmark Professional, Workgroup C540dw Wireless Color Laser Printer

Lexmark C540DW Wireless Color Laser Printer. Small and smart design, big-business color.
  • Monthly Duty Cycle: Up to 35,000 pages
  • System Requirements:Microsoft Windows 2000, XP; 2000,2003 & 2008 server, Vista; Apple Mac OS X, OS 9.x
  • Paper Handling: A4, A5, Executive, Folio, JIS-B5, Legal, Letter, Universal, Oficio
  • Input Paper Capacity: 250 sheets. Output Cpacity: 100 sheets
  • Max. Paper Size: 8.5" x 14". Print Resolution: Up to 1200 x 1200 dpi

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. A wannabe color laser with functionality
Bought this as a replacement for an older konica-minolta home office color laser. The pc tech who delivered the printer had to perform some interesting workarounds to force the printer to initially operate-- I should have been more concerned at that point. Color quality is okay, often it is quite dark versus truer to the monitor color. The highly advertised duplex function never has worked from first installation-- it instead prints this huge arrow on the reverse side of paper. Of late, the wireless connectivity which was a heavily-relied upon feature from my laptop has just stopped working. While a good price, think first before you buy yourself the grief and hassle unless you like playing hardware techie.

2. Great Printing... $$$ toner... Great cust servics on previous model
Works great in our SOHO application as did its predecessor, a C543DN. Toner is expensive, but buying the high-capacity cartridges from Amazon and using Lexmark's 10% recycle deal, it's manageable. Factory support on old one was excellent and available (free) after the warranty had expired. Hope they fixed the print head ribbon cable connector problem. Odd thing: on the old one there was a cover over the rear printer tray opening. On the new one the cover was not furnished or shown... but the old cover clipped into place perfectly on the new printer.

Samsung CLP-775ND/XAA Color Printer

Cheapest Samsung CLP-775ND/XAA Color Printer

35/35 (Black & Color) page per minute, Color Laser Printer, Built-in Network and Duplex
  • Fast and Robust Color Laser Printer to fit in any environment
  • Includes Built-in network and double sided printing for saving on time and money.
  • Superior Color Through Superior Technology

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great printer for a small biz
I've had this printer for a couple of months now and have been very pleased. The paper capacity is larger than my old printer (an OKI), it's quieter, warms up faster, and the paper path seems to be better as well. On top of all that, I was worried about running out of toner quickly but the utility shows the toner is still over 80%. I highly recommend this one, on Windows 7 or 8 seems to work fine.

2. Terrific print quality, bypass tray is a huge pain
Love the quality of the printing, and the speed is amazing. No warm up time. But the bypass tray is a huge problem. I can't just put a piece of paper in the tray, it has to be inserted in just the right place to be grabbed. Most of the time I waste multiple sheets of paper as it gets grabbed from the drawer first as the placement in the tray was not recognized. I haven't figured out how to fix this yet. It helps (but still not foolproof) to have a stack of paper in the tray, not just a single sheet, but this is a silly workaround. Sometimes I just want to print a quick sheet of labels, I don't want to have to stack paper underneath it. I think the plastic parts are just a little rickety compared to my sturdy old Ricoh. Anybody got a solution for the bypass problem? Maybe it's just my machine in particular?

Not Wireless at All
This is a great printer - except one issue. We recieved it, installed it, and began our first print job over ethernet immediately. Fast, relatively quiet, excellent print and very good photo copy. Sat down this evening to install the wireless, followed the directions, hooked it into a USB to configure the wireless - it couldn't find the wireless settings. Called Samsung, very helpful guy. Took him about 30 seconds to figure out that the CLP-775ND/XAA is not a wireless printer. Apparently it needs a "W" in the suffix to be wireless (yes I know that the W alone won't do it and that it actually needs the wireless card, but that is the short answer in any event). No way to contact Amazon directly to tell them of this error, but I bet they figure it out fairly quickly after a bunch of customers waste their time setting up the printer and trying to install non-existent wireless. Bummer.

1. Love it - see short video for details

2. Good and Fast output but Noisy
I had the printer setup in my home office 8 feet or so away from where I work.
The Good.
1) Fast and excellent output
2) Easy to set up for networking. (Just follow the simply direction and it worked the first time)
3) Works well with OSx and MS

The Bad
1) Bit large and heavy (not too bad)
2) sounds like a VACUUM CLEANER when it turns on
3) the fan sound never seems to end even when it is in the sleep mode. (it does end eventually)

Conclusion.
If you don't care about ambience then this printer may be good for you, but I would not have it any area where I spend a lot of time.

Color Laserjet
I've had the 3525 for over a month, an so far it's been rock solid. I print lots of color presentations for customers, and it prints color faster than any printer I've purchased in the past. I've switched from a Lexmark, it was a very good printer, it just went through supplies (toner especially) too quickly. So far, this printer appears to be easier on supplies, and prints quality presentations.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. VERY quiet, fast, nice color
I have an HP 2025DN and the new OKI C531DN is much, much, much more quiet. It was easy to connect to an iMac with the included CD. (One note - It's easy to lose track of the little CD in all of the packaging. I did, but I finally found it. This was me, not OKI.) Without the CD you are lost, as there do not appear to be drivers online. The OKI website shows the printer, but not in all printer lists. Takes a reasonable amount of time to start over an ethernet iMac-to-router-to-printer connection. Then prints fast in color or B&W. It's so quiet that you can stand next to it and talk on the phone while it's printing. It's not great to be in the same room with the HP when it's printing. The OKI is silent in power-saver mode (and so is the HP).

1. nice features, pig on toner
We had a xerox 8650MFP for years and loved it! We finally decided to replace it with a smaller printer because we didn't need the faxing or scanning capabilities any more. The 6600 is a nice printer with a terrific duplexer. But it eats toner like crazy. We spent more on toner in the first month with this printer than we did on the 8650 over 6 months and our printing habits have not changed. It's horrible. At this time we have had the printer for only 2 1/2 months and have spent more on toner than we did on the printer. We have spoken to xerox who were not helpful at all. At this time it would be cheaper for us to just throw away the printer and find one that is more cost effective. What a waste!

2. Office printer
We are using our new printer in our business office. We think it fits our needs and was relatively moderate in price.

  • Quick First Print provides first print time of approximately 10.5 seconds in color and b/w

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great quality printer
I purchased this printer to use for our small business office. I had assumed it printed 11x17, but that was my fault. It will however print your standard size as well as legal size paper, envelopes, etc. using it's feeder tray. Set up was not difficult. Simply connected it into the network, and connected the computers to the printer via the printer's IP address. You do have to install the drivers on each computer. I recommend downloading the drivers from the website, that way you will be getting the newest drivers. Canon's website was actually harder to navigate, then it was setting up the printer.
The printer will run you through all the steps and in about 15 minutes you are printing your first copies. Color reproduction is very good and the colors are vivid and bright and the depth of color is excellent. Shadows can get a little dark, so adjust your blacks in photos. Skin tones are very very good. No bleeding on standard paper and no smearing on photo paper. From sleep...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Good Printer - somewhat slow for 1st copy
The printer performs well with good color, good resolution and nice features. The 1st copy is a bit slower than the Lexmark that it replaced, but the power consumption is lower also. Overall it is a good printer.

FedEx, on the other hand could not find a town of 50,000 people along the coast of Connecticut. They kept shipping it from NJ to NY to CT to NJ to NY to CT, etc. for a week! Only after calling customer service twice, literally giving them turn-by-turn directions, were they finally able to deliver the printer to my house. Of course, by that time the box was pretty beat up, but the printer was not damaged in any way.

2. Works as expected for a business class laser
Network setup was fairly easy (I am IT knowledgeable). Would like more information on printing from apple product. Color and quality are fine.

1. Love It!
I started using my Ricoh printer & copier for the first time and I like it. My main reason for buying it was because it is so compact. I only use it when I travel, so I have to pack it up and then set it up in my office space. It is lite weight, and I was surprise of the quality of the print. I had to remember that it was not the office printer, so be patience with it's speed, and that's only reason I don't give it a 5 star rating. Love It!

2. Wrong Title
Ricoh 406944 is not a color printer, nor wireless
here color means color scanner, wireless means you have to buy a USB cable separately

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. HERE'S HOW TO FIX THE TONER "OUT" PROBLEM
Read the other reviews for details about this printer.

My problem is that I printed a few hundred pages and then the printer reported IT WAS OUT OF TONER. WTF? The "starter" toner was supposed to be at least a few thousand pages.

I made the mistake of buying a new black toner cartridge. Then after it printed a few pages, it said the magenta cartridge was out of toner! I was trying to print black! This printer has a serious problem of not knowing when or if the toner cartidges is either out of, or completely full of toner.

After I found this trick, I got another 1,000 pages out of that "empty" toner cartridge.

Here's how to fix the problem (quoted from someone else but it really works... you can Google this problem and it will say to put electical tape on the sensor, but that does NOT NOT NOT work with this printer. Only this will work):

1)' Turn the printer off and then on again.
2) Open cover.
3) Press Cancel and...

2. Easy wireless set up and great quality prints
In this day of laptops, netbooks, and sophisticated phones, a network printer can simplify things greatly. With a wireless network already running in the house, we could add a wireless printer and put it where it most convenient for us rather than where there was a network connection. Enter the Brother HL-3070CW.

First a bit about printing technologies: Inkjets are cheaper to purchase, but the cost of ink cartridges is staggering over time. The HL-3070CW comes with a set of "starter" toner cartridges, rated for 1,000 pages each. Compare that to an inkjet, where ratings of 150 - 200 pages from a full set of carts are common. (Our Epson CX5800F is lucky to get 75 pages out of a set of cartridges, given the amount of ink we waste on clogged print heads.) The Brother toner cartridges cost more to replace, but you'll be replacing them much less often. The replacement black toner cartridge is rated for 2,200 pages, and the replacement color cartridges are rated at 1,400...

Great printer, and very cheap for networked color LED (laser) printer
Very easy to configure, at least with my Mac, and using the plug-in Ethernet connection. Great color, and very crisp printouts, nearly laser quality output (it's actually an LED printer, which uses a less-costly print technology than laser, but has the same basic laser-type toner cartridges). Even from an inch away the fonts look very crisp.

Toner cartridges are about $60 each. The starter cartridges are supposed to last 1000 pages but I've only had it a month so we'll see how that goes. You get (essentially) laser quality output but for $350, color, USB, Ethernet and wireless interfaces built in - so it's hard to beat. No problems at all to date, but as I say it's still new.

Colors are very good, but if you're looking to print photos it's not going to look as good as a photo printer. Great for color images and charts/graphs in documents, though, and better color quality than my $99 Epson ink jet (non photo printer).

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Beautiful Pictures and Prints
The Pictures are not completely "Photo Quality" but I am very pleased with how well they look. I mail out monthly newsletters which include lots of pictures. The photo's are more than good enough quality for what we print. First page out is amazingly fast unless it is in sleep mode... then it may take 45 sec to 1 min to warm up (if the room is cold). The only thing I really dislike about this printer is how much ink is lost when I turn it off (so I just leave it on all the time)... but if you want to move the printer it warns you that you MUST turn it off or the melted ink could spill and damage the printer.

I have purchased generic wax but have not tried it yet. Perhaps I will update this when I begin using the different wax blocks.

Only problem with the seller was that Delivery took much longer than I expected. It was on the slow truck, and I don't remember exactly but I think it as over 2 weeks from the day it was shipped.

2. Great Quality at a price
My Company uses these for maps and brochures. Great quality and a great printer. However the Crayons can get pricey. I suggest if you buy this printer. (which you should it's fantastic quality) that you find manufacture toner on amazon cheaper then buying it from the website. Otherwise your going to spend $100 per box of 3 crayons. You can normally find toner on amazon or other sites (from the manufacture brand) at or around $60-$70 per box which does make it a tad better. But you pay for what you get... and that's Great quality from this machine.

We currently own 5 of these, and 3 of them are around the 250k page count and still going strong. another one we had, the print head died at 210k and the last one we had that died at 294k pages. so you can get a decent amount of pages out of these printers too.

Do not buy this printer
The printer doesn't support third party ink so you are tied to the very expensive manufacture ink. What is worse is that the third party ink companies gladly sell you the ink knowing well that it's not going to work. Stay far away from this printer. Oh, not to mention it freezed up day one which required a hard reboot.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. a nice printer with some software quirks under OS X
This quality of the printing, scanning, and faxing from this unit is excellent. It seems to have Lexmark's robust design and construction, though I won't be able to say for certain without a few more years of use. The directions from the front panel during setup, faxing, etc., are useful. As with many networkable printers, it has a web server built-in, from which one can change major setting without any special client software. This is nice, and makes the printer in some regards 'future proof,' in that you don't need Lexmark to continue to create updated versions of the driving software in order to use the device with new and potentially incompatible OS revisions.

It does, however, have quirks. If the printer is waking from sleep, the time to first print is longer than I am used to. In an environment where the printer is used only occasionally, this may be a problem. Also, it has basically no Mac OS X software. For scanning, you have to use Apple's Image Capture program,...

2. Easy set up, great quality
When I first unpacked this printer, I was a bit overwhelmed at the thought of setting it up. It turned out that the instructions were easy to follow and we were in business the first time. There is a known glitch with print quality that occurs during shipping. When setting up for the first time it is important to remove the cartridges and the waste container and clean the lenses with a lint free cloth. If you don't do this there will be lines and spaces in the printouts. I had to call customer service which took a while. There is also some documentation on their customer service website. Printing, scanning, copying and faxing are all easy and produce good quality results.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great Printer!
I bought this printer about a year ago to print labels for our home business. All our inkjet printed labels were fading too fast to sell our product. We got the laser printer and now our labels look great and professional. I've had no problems. I have printed labels, party invitations, pictures, etc. on label paper, cardstock and regular paper. Everything looks great and professional. Very easy to use printer. Also, I am still using the original toner cartridges that came with it. I just ordered a new black cartridge but I probably won't have to replace it for another week or two. The color cartridges are still at 50% so they will last a while longer. I'm very happy with this printer.

2. This printer didn't work for me. Maybe not for others too
PROS: low price, prints sharp and clean, quiet printing.
CONS: won't handle all paper stock. Warm-up time is 1-2 minutes.

I bought this printer to replace my 14 year old Hp LJ 4MP. I assumed the CP1215 would be capable of doing the same things my old one did and more in color.
My immediate need was to print out baby shower invites. The card stock was within the limits of HP's recommendations, no thicker than a 4x6 card. The printer would print 1 invite, then error out with "misprint". After 20 minutes of making sure I removed all the tabs and protectors that HP ships with and making sure this model supported 4x6 card stock, I found a way to get the rest of my stock printed. I had to press the resume button, causing it to reinitialize the warm-up sequence and then print. Took 30 minutes to do 30 invites.

This printer seems fine to print every day stuff. But if you print specialty paper, size and type, be aware it might not handle the paper well.

Not Mac compatible
We have two computers, a PC and a Mac laptop. For the price, this seemed like a great option since we wanted a color laser printer. Be aware that this printer is NOT Mac compatible. HP does not supply a Mac driver, nor is one readily available on the web.

  • 150 Sheet input tray, single sheet priority input tray for special media, and 125 sheet output tray

This give to us some advantages, like this :
1. A "Could Have Been Perfect" Color Laser Printer
The Good:
1) The Price - it is on sale for 299.00 in a number of places. A network printer at that price is a steal.
2) Image quality is sharp and crisp. Colors are fairly accurate.
3) No problems were encountered installing printer on computer running Vista. However, there is a lot of stuff (optional programs) on the installation so a typical install can take a long time (in my case well over a half hour) during which time I did wonder why it was taking so long. I guess, in this age of "bloatware", this may expected.

The Bad:
HP does not make high yield toner cartridges for this series of printers (this one and HP Color Laserjet CP1215 Printer). High yield cartridges are a great money saver since they typically give you 2-3 times more pages while typically costing only 20-25% more than standard cartridges. So unless HP comes out with high yield toner cartridges for this printer in...

2. Great image and color, but toners don't last too long
I had a Samsung CL-300, about the same size as this pritner, but I hated the color from it. So when I got to use this HP at work, I was so surprised and HAPPY that the color is very close to what I see on screen. Prints nicely too. Since it's a laser printer, large scale photo doesn't look as nice as inkjets, but still does a great job!

I love the manual duplex. I didn't understand what it meant until I tried it. I always had a problem with figuring out which side I put back in for duplex printing, but HP made it easier. When it prints out, just put the one-side-printed-paper back in the paper tray, without flipping it over or turning it, or whatever. Just put it in the tray the same way it come out.

The worst thing about this printer is the toner usage. The toolbox application installed in the computer says the black toner is still 60% full, then after a minute, it went down to 10%... It's been less than 7 weeks and only printed 600 pages. It's suppose to print...

Excellent print quality and color accuracy, although manual calibration is necessary to prevent dark colors...
This is our second color laser printer in the past two weeks, and after a week of use we feel this is a keeper. The previous printer we tried, the Brother HL-4040cdn Color Laser Printer with Duplex and Networking, was a step better than this printer in nearly every respect, except color accuracy. But my wife had to have a printer that was highly accurate for her project and this little printer was able to meet her high expectations. The Brother just could not cut it with the color accuracy, despite all the advanced calibration steps we tried.

Let me admit that I was a bit apprehensive about getting this printer given the many negative early reviews. Thankfully, it seems HP has addressed the quality problems with the later releases of this printer since it has been receiving excellent reviews lately.

The print quality of this printer is astonishingly nice. HP is confident enough to let the...

HP expertise pairs advanced color imaging technology with innovative print cartridge design for superior prints. The on-board HP ImageREt 2400 technology ensures exceptional quality color printing while HP's smart printing technology monitors and makes automatic adjustments to the cartridges to ensure consistent quality throughout cartridge life. • Color laser printer offers affordable color printing
  • Up to 600 x 600 dpi for both black and color prints with 8 ppm speed for both black and color
  • 250-sheet paper tray, with option to add second tray
  • 16-character front panel LCD display offers easy-to-access information
  • Device measures 16.0 x 14.6 x 17.8 inches (WxHxD)

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Cartridge problems can be overcome
I guess the way the printer is set up is to ASSUME that you are using the color cartridges on an average basis, regardless of whether they are actually being used or not. Thus, it estimates when the cartridges should run out and when that time comes, you are locked out of further printing until the cartridges are replaced even though they may be full of toner. However, reading through the User Guide, there appears to be a solution on using the Color Toner Cartridges beyond the "replacement" time.

Page 94 of the User Guide has the following instructions for those who would like to use the toner beyond their replacement time:

Configuration

Cartridge Out Override can only be enabled from the printer's control panel menu.

1. From the main menu, press (RIGHT ARROW) to System setup and press (SELECT).

2. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Print quality and press (SELECT).

3. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Replace supplies and press...

2. Impressive Achievment for HP - Fantastic Value
You know, on paper, the HP 2600n probably makes no sense - not much memory, one-pass engine (speeds for black and color are the same), expensive replacement cartridges, slow black-only speed, average looks, small & unimpressive LCD display.

But.... In the real world, this printer will surprise and even amaze you! If you print ANY color in your documents, this printer will leave it's competition in the dust in terms of performance. Color print-outs are fast and come out instantly - no warm-up, etc. The unusual design allows it to take up minimal space on your desk and provides easy paper retrieval and cartridge replacement. The simple display is incredibly intuitive and features are easily & quickly located.

Instead of lots of memory, the printer makes use of your computer's memory and cpu (read: not post-script) - this may have a very slight performance effect on your computer. But, you never have to worry about purchasing extra printer memory ($$), since...

Printer is "Free" But the Toner Is VERY Expensive!
I bought this printer in October, 2005, primarily to print documents with occasional color use. To my surprise, about 3/4 of the way through my second black toner cartridge, the three color cartridges were exhausted. The supply counter reported that I had printed 4800 pages in color! I print VERY LITTLE color, and I just could not understand it. I called HP tech support, and was told that in fact even when you think you are printing black text only, the printer uses "a little" color toner too. I was not happy to hear this, since nowhere in HP's literature that I could find is this mentioned, but OK. . .they told me I could prevent this by printing in "draft" instead of in "normal," and by printing in greyscale. So, I loaded the new color cartridges (THREE of them, at approx. $80 each!!!), and guess what? The page counter CONTINUED to count pages for each of the color cartridges AND for the black cartridges! So, I called tech support back and was THEN informed that there is no...

  • High-quality 2400 x 600 dpi resolution
  • Features network connectivity via wireless/wired interfaces
  • 250-sheet capacity tray, Starter Toner Cartridge
  • One-year limited manufacturer's warranty

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great printer, but programmed to rip you off in toner
I bought the HL-2170W from Amazon at the beginning of 2008. I found it very easy to configure for both wired and wireless networks, although I use mine on a wired connection out of convenience. I print mostly plain text, and the quality is very good.

I have but two complaints:

First, the paper comes out slightly curled, but this is a fact of life for a printer this size.

Second, Brother has programmed the printer such that when its thinks the toner is empty, it stops working. This happened to me when I was printing some important documents. I did some internet searches and examined the toner cartridge. There is a clear plastic circle at each end of the toner cartridge. The printer shines a light through to see how full the toner is. Simply cover one of them with a piece of opaque tape, and the printer will think that the toner is full. I've already gotten 1500+ pages out of the starter toner that was "empty" at 983, with no difference in printed...

2. Great Printer, Just follow directions on setup.
Recently I bought a Brother All-In-One Inkjet and have been very happy with it. Since it had all the controls on the printer itself, I was able to set up the wireless connection quickly and without any problem. Plus, all the other features worked well. I needed a laser printer to replace my very old NEC. Based on my experience with the Brother Inkjet I decided to buy this Brother 2170W.

The Brother laser printer is very small, yet holds 250 pages which is far more than my old one. It wakes up in less than 10 seconds then prints pages lightening fast. The print quality is sharp and clear. I have the printer in my office and connected it directly to my PC with the USB cable. However, I also have a laptop about 10 feet away that I wanted to setup wireless to the laser printer. Well, that is where the problems began.

I tried for several hours to connect the laser printer to my laptop and never could get it right. I was able to connect wirelessly directly between the...

Low price, easy setup, good performance!
I've been buying Brother laser printers for several years now - first the HL-1240, and then the HL-1440. Both were used in my home network via the Windows printer sharing function, which means that the computer to which the printer is attached must be up and running in order to print. The 1440 recently started malfunctioning, and rather than deal with its problems I decided to get something new that I could connect directly to the network.

I went looking for the HL-2070n, but these are no longer stocked in local stores, and I wanted a printer quick. Instead I found this model and the larger, more expensive HL-5250dn. After playing with both of them for a few minutes, I felt that the 5250 was too noisy and clunky sounding, and kind of big. It's probably a good printer, but I went instead for the quieter and less obtrusive HL-2170w.

The wireless capability is a nice feature, but not really important to me right now, since the printer sits only three feet from my...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. I have owned four color lasers - this is the best of that group (update: newer model available)
This printer was a great workhorse for me for about 2 and a half years, and you can read all about that in the original review below. However, there is an updated model - the Brother Printer HL3045CN Color Printer - which is cheaper and newer. You might want to look at that one instead.

*** Original review ***

I have owned color lasers from HP, Xerox, and Lexmark previously. All of them had issues that gave me fits. All had installation and driver issues which cost me many hours of time to resolve.

No such problems here. Plug it in, answer a few questions, and it's printing. I have Windows 7 64 bit, and I was cringing because I expected problems, but I didn't have any. I used the network setup with an Ethernet cable plugged in, and now all the computers in my house can see it and use it. I never did get networking to work right on the Xerox, though I fiddled with settings for the...

2. Secret for maximizing life of toner cartridges
For the second time now, this thing said it was out of ALL THREE color toner cartridges at the same exact time! The first time this happened, it seemed very suspicious. Wish I held on to the toner carts. Now that the printer has bugged me for the second time that it needs new color toner, I dug up a page that has the reset instructions for the cartridges. Apparently, the printer keeps track of the number of pages, regardless of how much toner is actually used. Pretty darn lame. Anyway, here's the trick that just made me very happy:

1. Open the front cover that gives you access to the toners.
2. Press and hold "Secure Print" and "Cancel" at the same time. You will see "K-TNR-STD" display on the screen.
3. Using the "+" and "-" buttons select the toner you want to reset.
4. Press the "Ok" button.
5. It will display "Ok?" and hit the "Ok" button again to reset the toner.
6. Close the lid.

Also, FYI, I called Brother and the support rep was a...

Good Print Quality, Easy Install
I have had this printer about two weeks, and so far it is great. Install was easy on my network, with networking built-in. The print quality on both black & white, and color is very good. The toner cartridges that come with the printer are "starter" cartridges, and yield only about 1000 copies. So far, Brother direct, or Staples seem to be the only ones that have replacement cartridges, and they are expensive ($65+) for 2500 page yield cartridges, and there are four of them total? Have been able to print both labels and card stock from the regular print tray, with minimal curling. There is a straight-thru manual feel slot. Price was right, sub$200 with discounts... and a free label printer thrown in...

  • Scan in Color up to 9600 dpi Quality with 600 dpi Optical Resolution
  • 33.6 Kbps Super G3 Fax and USB 2.0 Hi Speed
  • Up to 50 sheet DADF /Duplex Automatic Document Feeder

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. meets my expectations
for a non-commercial grade machine, it definitely meets my expectations. it prints and copies quickly enough and the quality is absolutely fine. the energy saver mode keeps the machine quiet when not in use. it's easy to use, and it's nice having all the multifunctions in one unit. fyi, i initially had problems because my usb cable was ten feet long. the user manual does not warn of problems with long cables, but canon's fast and knowledgeable tech support folks solved that for me quickly. i'm a little annoyed that i must specify in the print dialogue box each time i want to use the manual feeder (aka multi purpose tray); the machine does not automatically detect paper in the manual feeder and print from it unless i first specify manual paper tray in my print dialogue box. it's nice to have the printer and fax available to my entire network via the cat 5 cable, but unless i'm mistaken, the only way to scan to your computer is through the usb cable, which meant that after...

2. Better than the sum of its parts
This is the first multi-purpose printer/fax/scan that isn't a combination of cheap imitations of all three. The printer is really very good, fairly fast, and easily handles creating two sided output. The scanner is the best I've had, the feeder and all of the mechanics are solid and reliable, and once set up it has exceeded expectations.

ImageClass D1150 disappoints
We liked our Canon ImageClass D780 a lot, but after 5 years it needed repairs expensive enough to prompt us to replace it. The cost of the D1150 was about the same retail price as the D780 but doesn't compare. Biggest complaint: you can't fax manually to more than one number at a time. The only way to send to multiple destinations is to create an entry and give it a name and number. We fax to mostly new destinations, so that option is an unacceptable time waster. Another annoyance: it wrinkles the edge of our envelopes, and the envelope holder holds a smaller stack than the older machine. The output tray is situated such that it's hard to see if there is anything in it unless you're very close. These are the things we don't like so far. We've had the D1150 for only a month and wish we could send it back. I will say that it's faster than the old multifunction, but I'd trade that small increase in speed in a second for the functionality and user-friendliness of the...
