This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Excellent SOHO Printer
I bought this HP M475dn all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax directly from HP after doing some, but not an exhaustive research. If you are looking for an all-in-one, there are several available options by Dell, Canon, Epson, Brother, OKI, and even by HP. However, most of these printers on the market are much cheaper and do not belong to this class. The difference is better construction quality and built for a much higher duty-cycle using high yield cartridges (more on this later). I looked at two additional printers in this class- Brother MFC-9970 CDW that did not measure up in quality of output, and Dell 2155cn which is a close contender. Dell's print quality is good, but my bad experience with my old Dell's continuous toner demand made me choose HP.

There are several variations of this printer- M375nw (economical option if you want wireless but do not care for duplex), M475dn (the one reviewed which has duplex and network), and M475dw (slightly more expensive if you...

2. HP Got it Right this time
This is a great printer for the home office. It does everything I need it to do including double sided scanning and printing. The color is excellent and the detail of the print is 10 times better than my old office jet printer. I could care less about the fax because e-mail coverers that requirement besides who uses a fax anymore. The set up was one of the easiest applications I have ever installed. Just follow the instructions on the initial set up page by typing in the URL in your browser and you will be off and running in no time. Setup took about 15 minutes and that included a break to get another cup of tea. One bit of caution; be sure to following the unpacking instructions to get all the packing blocks out. I got mine okay but it could be easy to miss one by looking at the vague unpacking pictures.

Works well, printing in black and white only requires extra steps
This printer while it prints kind of slow works well for us. We haven't had any issues with scanning and the print quality is good. Setting it up on the network was easy. It also updates the bios when first installed so that's good.

My reason for not giving it five starts is that the product requires multiple steps to print in black and white. First you have to go to printer properties, select color, choose gray scale, uncheck auto color management and then choose none for the color options. The defaults don't get saved so these steps are required every time. Forget any of these steps and the color toner is used. HP should definitely make the black and white option available as a default.

If anyone has found a way around this I'd be very interested.

C1660W 12/10 ppm 600 x 600 dpi Wireless Network Color Laser Printer

Bargain C1660W 12/10 ppm 600 x 600 dpi Wireless Network Color Laser Printer

Laser Printers, Dell, PRNT DELL C1660W COLOR PRINTER LIBERTY WIFI REPLA, 5V05D

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Good printer but buy extra cartridges
I bought this printer to avoid having to pay for copies to be made for an election season. Unfortunately the starter cartridge that came with the printer (black ink) shut down after only roughly 250 copies. After checking OfficeMax, Staples, WalMart, Meijer and Catridge World it appears that NO ONE carries these toner cartridges. It prints documents very nicely, but make sure that you order replacement cartridges at the time of purchase or you will be stuck waiting for another online shipment.

Also, apparently Dell cartridges contain a chip that must be replaced when you add ink (so it's not as easy for places like Cartridge World to do a refill). That chip tells the printer how many more copies can be made - regardless of how much ink is really still left....

2. Excellent Printer
The first printer was bought around Christmas time (2012) from an Amazon dealer,it had a bad USB port and was returned for a full refund. The second printer I bought directly from Dell at about the same price. It was installed with no problems whatsoever, however, I only use the USB port.
The only minor problem I have is that it does not print on paper stock weight over 45 pounds, I am not sure this is the exact figure, but it will not print on paper I use for my business cards.
Also, because this is a fairly new printer there are no aftermarket supply of toner cartridges but I'm sure this will change in the near future.
I am very pleased with both black and white and color prints.
This is a great printer at a fantastic price.

July 16, 2013, update:
I see that there are some aftermarket toner cartridges with the chips becoming available. That is great news. I'm still very happy with the printer.

Amazing color laser
I was looking for a color laser as I wanted color output but wasn't interested in an inkjet. I was tired of clogged printheads when using cheap ink or megabuck genuine cartridges for that matter. Never was happy with color output looking terrible on regular (cheap) paper, not to mention soggy sheets coming out that smeared in an instant.

Photo output of this machine is just great - I can print on regular copy paper and it looks really good, comparable or better than cheap inkjets especially if you prefer the matte finish look. If you're used to a color laser looking lousy on photos then you'll be in for a big surprise as Dell has done something to improve upon this.

Consumables appear high but a famous auction site sells refill toner bottles with reset chips. I haven't tried them myself (yet) but if they work fine then the consumable cost of this unit will be very low. No fear of clogged printheads either.

Wireless connection works reliably, unlike...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Best printer ever - Buy it today
I don't write a lot of reviews but thought I needed to write a review of this printer. I bought this printer because I needed to print a lot of training manuals for a class that I was doing. I looked into having a printing shop print the books but they wanted to charge me almost $6,000 to print everything. I decided that I could buy a printer and the materials and have my kids do the work for a lot less. I started looking around for printers and this seemed like the right mix of speed and duty rating. I bought the printer and materials and in the end it worked out great. I printed and spiral bound around 800 manuals over a 3 week period. I used 30,000 sheets of paper and 12 black ink cartridges. I printed everything in back and white, but there was a lot of graphics so the print coverage was not great, but I expected that. In the end I spent about $3,000 for the printer and materials and gave $1,000 to the kids for doing the work. I now have a great printer and other...

Samsung Electronics CLX-6260FW Wireless Color Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax

Cheapest Samsung Electronics CLX-6260FW Wireless Color Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax

Samsung's new CLX-6260 series color MFPs provide the ultimate value for businesses looking to make an impact with their prints while keeping their bottom line in the black.
  • 25/25 ppm with 533 MHz dual cpu, 512 MB standard memory, and standard Gigabit Ethernet and duplex for fast, reliable and economical performance
  • Brilliant color quality with Polymerized Toner, new and improved rendering engine, and up to 9,600 x 600 dpi print resolution
  • Wireless, Reversible ADF, 4.3-Inch Color touch screen, and 4 GB internal flash disk for secure pull printing

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Easy Set Up
I did a lot of research comparing specs and cost-per-page before deciding on this printer. My short list included Brother, Lexmark, and this printer and I am happy with my decision. Features including 512MB RAM standard made this the best value in the $600-$700 price range. You can control the fax and scan from your computer and the printer has automatic duplexing, an automatic document feeder, and scanning or printing up to legal size.

The print quality of both b&w and color is excellent, faxing and scanning both work very well. Wi-fi set up was very easy and maintains connection flawlessly (not so with my previous b&w laser). Overall size of the printer is tall but footprint is not too bad - and it replaced a b&w laser and a color inkjet so I ended up saving counter space. I haven't had to replace toner yet but access to the toner cartridges is straightforward. The only thing that bugs me just a bit is the touch panel sometimes is unresponsive and I have to press an icon...

2. very nice printer
THe first one came with a bad transfer ribbon, but Amazon sent another and picked up the first one at the house - no charge! GReat service with prime!
great features and speed with outstanding clarity and nice iphone app!

New Buyer
Just bought this and extremely happy so far.

1) I have a complicated home network (involving multiple router and so forth) and my computers were still able to find the printer without a problem.
2) Scanner was able to easily find my remote computer
3) Wireless connection to network was easy to set up.
4) Print quality is good
5) Apps to monitor the printer work well.
6) Duplexing functions are very nice!

Note sure how efficient it is on toner yet as I have the "starter/sample" cartridges that come in the box and those are probably not a good measure.

HP OJ 7610 Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax

Create high quality, high impact marketing in a range of sizes, and scan, copy, and fax with ease.

  • Standard connectivity: 1 USB (2.0), 1 Ethernet, 1 Wireless 802.11b/g/n, 1 USB host port, 2 RJ-11 fax
  • Paper handling: 250-sheet input tray, 75-sheet output tray

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. HP OJ 7610 Wireless Color Printer Scanner Copier Fax
I suspect this is a brand new product. It arrived in record time, in perfect condition. It was easy to unpack, assemble and set up. I connected via USB port with no problem. The quality of print is exceptional and the printer has had no problem interfacing with my computer and the stuff in there from my previous HP printer (a 6-year-old dinosaur). The color is excellent. It does a great job on photos, spreadsheets, you name it. I also like the energy efficiency of this printer. So far, it does not seem to be an ink hog. The start-up cartridges did actually give me the number of copies estimated. This little guy is a real workhorse. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a great printer for home or small office. It also does just fine on heavy paper, card stock and regular 20 lb paper. What's not to like???
Just for the record, I don't do tablets, i-anything, berries or wireless whatevers; just straight-ahead slow mo dial-up. Yeah, there's still a few of us out there.

2. 7610 potential issue to watch for
My new 7610 seems to do everything right except print on 4x6" label stock. It starts printing way up off the top of the page. If you have a 7610, maybe you should check it with 4x6" paper. It may be a design defect, or it may be that my unit is defective. I don't know yet.

The user's manual for this unit is in the Help file on the enclosed disk, which you can copy to your hard drive and place an icon on your desktop.

The help section of HP's website is a disaster. Links that don't work, search feature that is nearly useless.

Edit 9/24/13: I got a replacement 7610. It also can't print on 4x6". So I will try an Epson WF-7510.

If you want to preserve your sanity, don't call HP tech support. Just return your printer to the retailer.

Edit 9/26/13: The Epson WF-7510 prints 4x6" labels perfectly. I never heard back from HP tech support. It's been 4 days since they "escalated" my issue.

The creme dela creme of printers
This is my first printer and it is amazing! I don't know why I waited this long, but I've been missing out.

This wireless printer does it all, its prints (obviously) but its also makes copies scans and faxes. I use to have to go to one place for printing, scanning, and making copies then go to a completely different place to fax. However now I can do it all at home which saves time and money.

This is a printer that doesn't print front and back which is no big deal for this family. With all the included instructions and material set up was a breeze ( and I'm not super tech savy). The included ink is a huge bonus that way I was able to make sure it was working properly.

The pricing on the ink doesn't seem to bad, especially considering all the money ill save from being able to do any paper work I need at home.

Being able to print from your smartphone or tablet is a huge plus which I can see will come in quiet handy in the future...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Flawless...and Customer Service Par Excellence
I purchased this on the great reviews, set it up and printed some test pages. All seemed great except for a barely-visible light-colored line across some graphics pages. I looked through the docs and eventually emailed Dell customer support. Surprisingly, this turned out to be one of the best parts about the whole experience:

I contacted a rep named Joey who guided me through a few diagnostics and then shipped a new print-head device (PHD). This came 2nd day and included a return label for the original. I tried the new PHD, and unfortunately, it too had a problem. Joey had a 2nd one shipped to me the same day (even before I'd returned the first!). Incredibly, however, this one *also* had a problem.

In truth, I was starting to feel bad, like "the customer who can't be pleased," but Joey would have none of it, said he had spoken to his manager and asked where to ship the replacement printer (!!!). I was shocked; I didn't want him to go to that...

2. It's a beast and worth every penny!!
I bought this for my finance'; she is a Realtor. She needed a good color laser printer for her advertising and presentations. This beast is just the trick. It's fast with very good resolution for all her printing needs. She scans or faxes contracts with ease! It weighs a ton, so get a sturdy table, desk or platform to put it on. It has good ink management and the ink is fairly inexpensive.

This is a great printer and a solid scanner/copier fax.

Samsung Electronics CLP-415NW Wireless Color Printer

Bargain Samsung Electronics CLP-415NW Wireless Color Printer

Produce professional color prints, affordably and quickly.
  • That's the promise of the Samsung CLP-415NW.
  • Compact and quiet enough for your small business or home office, it features Samsung's latest image processing and polymerized toner formulation, giving you brilliant color and super-crisp text and graphics.
  • Fast print speeds mean you spend less time waiting, while a lower cost per page translates to overall ownership that's easy on your bottom line.
  • And with wireless printing functionality, the CLP-415NW is easily shared by just about everyone.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Good print quality, wireless setup is a total pain
Let's talk about the good parts of the printer first. It's a relatively small footprint compared to other color laser printers I've used. I also find the speed to be very nice. It's quick to print out what I send to it. The picture quality is very good. From all this standpoint, this is a very solid printer. It works as you would expect or even better. But then, there's the wireless aspect.

I wanted to have this because I have a large number of wireless devices in the house, several tablets, a couple of laptops, and I want to be able to print without having to either plug into the wired part of my network or use some form of sneakernet to get the files from the wireless machine to a wired one. A wireless printer would be perfect. I jumped at the chance to get this set up in our system. The instructions for setting it up are very straight forward and I followed them to the letter (yes, I actually read the instructions). The printer wouldn't connect to our network. I had...

2. At the current price a great buy
Currently amazon offers this printer for 17% off the sticker price, and this makes it a great buy in my mind.

The 415NW is a colorless laser printer - most small laser printers I've seen that do color don't do them well, but this is an exception. It doesn't do 'photo quality' in my mind, but it will be sufficient for most every other need. The black and white looked very crisp and clean, and I had no complaints there.

If you're looking for a laser printer you either do high volume printing or are thinking economically (ink is expensive for a laser printer, but per page is cheaper than an inkjet printer), and with that in mind this printer is pretty good. It has a several eco options for reducing printing costs further (greyscale, using less ink, and the like), so you can definitely get your money's worth over time with the 415NW. When trying out using less toner, for example, I didn't notice a big reduction in quality, so you won't suffer for being...

Flaky networking, Windows required for firmware updates, poor support
I'm happy with the print quality, but frustrated with the network stability.

Once the initial set-up was complete I could print from my Mac and iOS devices (AirPrint and mobile print). The next morning none of my devices could locate the printer. A power cycle resolved it and I was able to print again. A few hours later the printer disappeared again. I can ping the IP, but no AirPrint.

Samsung suggests updating the Firmware, but the updater is only available for Windows.

Bottom line: This could be a great printer if Samsung can solve the network issues, until then I'd look elsewhere, especially if you're looking for Mac and/or AirPrint support.

Update:

AirPrint is still unreliable. I've found if I reset the printer I can print for a few hours before it disappears again.

I've attempted to contact support twice. The first time they said to enable SNMP (already was). The second time they told me to look for timeout...

  • ith a monthly duty cycle of 20,000 pages, you can count on your Samsung printer to always be ready.
  • The CLP-365W has a footprint of just 15.0 x 12.2 x 8.3 Inches, and sound levels of less than 45 DBA. You won't notice it's there until you need it.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. BEAUTIFUL PRINTS, EASY SET UP
Purchased the Samsung Electronics CLP-365W and was initially hesitant since it is newly introduced to the market. Overall, very satisfied with the color prints.

Item was delivered two days after making the purchase.

Set up took less than 5 minutes. In fact, it took longer to take the item out of the packaging than to actually install the drivers and set up the wireless printing.

NOTE: When you plug the printer in initially, especially with Windows 7, decline the automatic driver set up through Windows. Install using the included CD, otherwise you'll have duplicate printers.

Print quality is amazing. I watched a few youtube videos regarding their new software and toner technology. It certainly is worth the amount I paid. Colors are vibrant, edges are sharp, and paper is not curled (as they advertised!) after printing as with most lasers. Colors come out solid with no streaking or additional residue.

I previously had a Brother MFC...

2. Starter cartridges under performed
I replaced an older Samsung CLP-315W with this printer. The installation and setup was a breeze. I was not happy that the starter black cartridge reported empty after printing just 179 pages instead of the quoted 700+. This printer is almost identical to the previous versions with the exception of new cartridge designs. I am anticipating it will have the same issue ... imaging drum will "time out" at 16000 "impressions". In my experience, this is a forced replacement strategy on the part of Samsung because the pages printed just before the imaging drum times out are perfect.

I am also not as excited about this model because Samsung is not selling bundled cartridges at a discount. With the 315W, I could purchase a 4 pack with all colors + black at a discount over purchasing individual cartridges. With this model, I can only find the cartridges sold as singles. So, this will be a bit more expensive to operate.

UPDATE: 09/16/2013

Crisp colors, easy setup, could be a little faster
Got my 365W from Newegg as there's currently a 3-5 week delay when ordering from Amazon, unless you use a 3rd-party reseller. Shipping was as quick as Amazon Prime though!

Installation was fairly easy on my home network, which has a combination of Windows 7 and XP machines, as well as an iMac. If you've ever installed a Windows 7 networked printer on a Mac, you probably know it can be a little technical, having to choose the right protocol on the Mac (lpd:) and entering your IP address. The on-disc manual for the Samsung 365W has very detailed step-by-step instructions for connecting the Mac to the printer wirelessly, which made it an easy process. The alternative way to set it up is to hook the printer to each computer one at a time via the included USB cable, installing all the drivers and wireless settings that way, then disconnecting and moving on to the next computer. I did this only on my main Windows 7 machine, but all the other installs were done wirelessly...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. So I needed to replace my CLP-315 Updates
After about 4 years of service my CLP-315 finally quit. The drum unit needed replaced, and as anyone knows that is a hefty price tag. Initially I was excited about seeing what was new, especially "wireless". After reading reviews and reviews and reviews of printers....I decided not to get any samsung model that came before the SL-C410 and was finally leaning towards an HP. After waiting for months I picked up the quest again and saw that the SL-C410 had come out last month...but no reviews. My previous samsung was a work horse and thought its time to give the new one a shot, besides amazon sticks to its customers.

Pros:
-Read the directions...I know many previous "wireless" printers had issues with people not printing correctly....this one worked first time and seems great.
-Great color and FAS; it processes the full picture quality quickly, quietly and surprisingly without the smell that the previous model had been known to cause
-Space saving, one of...

2. Great Value
This is our first laser printer. I suspect it must be the newer technology LED printer, but have seen no proof of that. We are a low volume print household. We got tired of ink jets and their inefficient use of ink. We have had the printer for over 2 weeks and only printed about a dozen pages. We had 2 day delivery and upon delivery I noticed one edge of the printer driver CD sleeve was bent pretty bad. The exterior of the shipping box showed no damage. The CD appeared ok, but I should have looked at it more carefully. When I put it in the CD drive to load the driver, the CD rattled bad and would not load. A closer inspection showed it was bent/warped. So, I went to the Samsung web site and downloaded the driver. That was the only glitch. I have the printer wired to the router and have printed from multiple computers with no problems. The printer driver has a nice interface and on-screen assistance for showing how to do the manual duplex printing. The black print is not...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great for the price
Having grown tired of finding my 2 inkjet printers dead because of dried up ink, I bought one of these from the HPStore.com for the same $239 it is a Amazon today. I received it yesterday and so far so good.

Wireless setup requires connection with a USB cable. The wireless on the printer picks up twice as many neighboring access points as my Thinkpad, so it's pretty sensitive. It's a little noisy when printing or calibrating and not particularly speedy. I'm sharing it for home use with my wife - our "small workgroup". The print quality is excellent and what little graphics I've done look good. The starter cartridges say they're good for "> 600 pages", but the predicted page count will self-adjust depending on your usage patterns.

Four replacement toner cartridges cost more than the printer does, but even if you throw it away after the starter toner runs out, it still works out to about 40 cents per page, which is in the ballpark for supplies for some other color...

2. Simply amazing
I'm an IT consultant with 23 years of experience, 6 years on the Mac and Microsoft and Apple certified. My ~10 year old Epson inkjet finally had enough so I went to hp.com to find a highly rated color laser. Wasn't even looking for ePrint, though I knew it was recently released and would be great for the future and my iOS devices.

After coming across this new model, I was pleasantly surprised at the price of $239 ($60/20% off list). Online reviews were mixed as usual - I paid no attention to the negative reviews, warnings about using it with a Mac or that ePrint doesn't work yet - as they say, "your mileage may vary". Prices at HP, Amazon and retail were all the same so after finding out it was in stock at my local Staples, I went out and got one.

Now I'm a huge fan of HP and recommend their printers to all my clients. This machine again shows me why. Simple setup and installation (used Ethernet), amazing quality AND ePRINT! I've installed the printer on...

Very Impressed
When Office Max had it for $240 Thanksgiving weekend, I just had to replace my 9 year old HP 1200 monochrome laser printer. The old HP ran like a champ, but I could not pass up the chance to move to color.

Setup was a breeze over my ethernet using my old Mac running Leopard. I rated the documentation as good, as I only used the quick set up guide and did not dig into the details, but the manual looks comprehensive. I did (and suggest) to skip the enclosed driver CD and go right to HP.com and get the latest drivers and firmware. This made the printer work with Apple's new airprint. I can print from my iPad and iPhone via my home wireless network. I didn't even have to set up the wireless printing on the printer. This is fine because my home network has a greater range in the house than the printer.

Print quality is great: "dang near photo" quality. I would still send my 4x6 prints to Walgreens to be printed on nice glossy paper.

Each toner in the old...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. HP LaserJet 500 Color Printer
What I offer here is more of a "first impression" after having printed only 545 pages on my new HP LaserJet 500 color M551n printer. I can say that so far, the HP has performed flawlessly. This is a very nice, very well constructed, solid (and heavy) color laser printer. So let me give you some specifics.

Going from the box to your point-of-use is not going to be easy. This is a heavy printer (75 pounds but it feels heavier) and most people will want or need someone to help them move it. I helped the delivery driver take it off the truck and walk it into my garage. My wife then helped me get it out of the box and from there I slowly and laboriously carried the printer up to my office. Once in place though, you'll be printing in no time.

Setting up, and connecting to, this printer was easy. I have it installed on my network. I use Windows 7 Home Premium. Between my operating system and the HP software the printer is recognized without any difficulty. The software...

2. Rotation and Customer Support - MEH - Updated
Background:

I purchased this enterprise printer as a replacement for an older LaserJet 3600n that was approaching end of life. I have two of those with one still in service and have found them reliable. We use these printers in a small office with 3 people, and periodically print large documents - 1000 pages or more.

The Good:

The new printer is certainly easy to install and prints like the wind. Print speed is awesome and the paper drawer takes an entire ream at once, also a major convenience. Lovely print quality too. A further benefit is that the toner cartridges are significantly physically smaller than the ones for the 3600n, saving storage space (I keep two sets on hand).

The Bad:

We often print documents that contain both landscape and portrait pages. It is mandated by our clients (and regulatory agencies who receive our end product) that when put into binders the landscape pages be oriented with the header at the spine of...

Printer for all reasons
I wanted to order some color flyers for the launching of my new business. All directions were going to cost more for shipping to Alaska than the printing of the flyers. I researched and found good reviews on this printer. When it arrived I had a bit of trouble getting the feeder to not jam. However, after reaching commercial tech support they guided me to a missed shipping tab that when removed made my printer work perfectly. The color is amazing, the ease of use is great. I love HP printers and this color laserjet is no exception. I highly recommend it.

  • Reduce energy use by 19 to 66 percent by setting the Auto-On/Auto-Off mode.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Heavy duty fast laser color printer.
I bought this printer from a wholesale dealer. I've been using it for 3 months now.
This is M551DN model. It supports duplex print (printing on both sides)

The box in which it came is huge. A grown adult can easily fit there and play jokes or scare people. Kids will love it. lol.

Any hoo, the printer is a little heavy. If you have a bad back or are not very strong I recommend you move it with the help of some one. Make sure you put this printer in a very sturdy table or desk.

Out of the box the printer has all of it's toners (both black and color) pre-installed and ready to go. All you have to do is remove the security tapes and you're done preparing the hardware. Installing paper is also very easy. Everything feels robust and looks like it will last very long.

When you first turn it on, the printer goes trough a series of tests and boot sequences. It takes a couple of minutes for this. Actually, the boot up is pretty slow even after...

2. Excellent value
I purchased the M551dn after a lot of comparison with the HP 451dn. In the end there was no comparison. Based on OEM toner prices the difference in price between these two printers is close to the difference in toner supplied (1500 p vs 6000 p cartridges) so that by the time you have printed 6000 pages the cost of the printers+toner is nearly equal. Further, based on OEM toner prices and 25,000 pages, the 551 is $1500 less expensive to operate than the 451 - about $0.06 per page cheaper. As added pluses: the 551 has 1 GB of memory vs 256 Mb, 1200x1200 resolution vs 600x600, is significantly faster, holds more paper, etc., etc. It took less than 5 minutes to have it running on my three macs. Print quality is excellent, even if you are on the default 600x600 output, n.b. you have to change the default to get 1200x1200. Quality was significantly better than the HP CP3505 I was using previously. If you are looking for a high quality color laser printer with low operating costs...

Very Solid Small Biz Printer
If you are looking for a color laser with a lot more muscle than your standard home printer and have the budget, the HP M551 series is a great choice. Adding the duplex option is not a luxury and works extremely well with all of the paper that we have including 80# stock. Toner cartridges have good life and can be refilled if you choose bringing the cost per page down dramatically.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great printer for seminary (graduate school)!
I'm a seminary student at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. We write many many papers for our classes. I needed a laser printer as my old HP LaserJet 1100, which in "computer years" was 100 years old, was about to give up the ghost.

But I really wanted color because I'm a visual learner and utilize charts and other colorful tools for my Greek and Hebrew and other classes. And, note that from a "cost-per-page" standpoint, lasers just about always beat inkjets, sometimes significantly.

Enter the HP LaserJet Pro CP1025nw. I first spotted it at an Office supply store. It has a relatively small footprint compared to the other models. I looked at reviews here on Amazon and found that the only real problem with this printer is speed. And for me, that is not a problem at all. Also, some folks suggest this unit is not a great photo printer, and I would agree with that as far as it goes. But please note that generally speaking, Laser Printers are not interested in...

2. Great inkjet replacement
Our family has been using the CP1025nw for nearly two months now and so far it has printed flawlessly. The size and price of color lasers have come down to the point where they are viable alternatives to color ink jets. We finally got fed up with our relatively new ink jet due to clogged print heads, streaking, wet smears, wrinkled paper and poor color saturation esp. when the kids were attempting (unsuccessfully) to print their homework assignments at the last minute before rushing off to school.

When it comes to care free operation with sharp, clean edges on text and line drawings, this laser performs far better then any ink jet we have used. The toner lasts and lasts (but it is also more costly to replace). The B&W dpi is 600x600 and the color dpi is 2400 but not quite photo quality. It's perfectly acceptable for one-off school projects, web printing and low-volume runs of color newsletters, announcements and small-business marketing materials where color accuracy isn't...

A FIne Printer
I bought the CP1025nw in early December. I use a MacBook (which runs OS 10.5.8) with Airport and a Cisco Linksys broadband G router.

I used the CD provided for installation and found it to be a straightforward process with no bloatware. There was one complicated step when I had to create a print queue, but I figured it out on my own: not HP's fault. The wireless set up works well from any point in my apartment (max. 30 feet or so from the printer.)

I print relatively infrequently (maybe a few pages each day) so I didn't want an inkjet whose nozzles would dry up. This laser printer has good color, a fast response time and print time. Black and white text looks especially good. As with any color printer, the paper you use affects print quality as much as the printer itself.

I have not had to change a toner cartridge but expect no difficulties if I follow the instructions provided.

I also need to connect the printer to my HP Pavilion...

  • 250-sheet capacity paper tray, adjustable for letter or legal
  • Mobile Device Printing via: AirPrint, Brother iPrint&Scan, Google Cloud Print and Wi-Fi Direct

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Very good
The printer arrived well packaged and the instructions were clear. The installation was smooth.

My first printouts on 22 and 24 lb laser papers seemed mediocre. Then I tried some of the expensive premium color laser sheets and was startled to see how good they looked. I am a light user and don't print many photos. So I may dump my inkjet if this printer continues to perform at this level.

I am also very pleased with the auto deep sleep mode which means I never have to turn the printer on or off. This is also the quietest laser I've ever owned.

UPDATE: Because of the good results after nearly three months, I've upgraded this to five stars and given away my HP and Canon inkjet printers. The printer manual says the included start-up toners will produce about 1,000 pages which seems to correspond to what I am getting.

2. Very good printer - but if photo printing is critical use inkjet!! (not laser)
I have this printer and it does a great job with text and graphics. Photo printing is just OK but that's typical of most color laser printers. If photo printing is critical then go Photo Inkjet or use a professional service.

I compared a color photo printout from this printer against my HP and Lexmark color laser printers and I'd put this printer better then HP but below Lexmark but the differences are very subtle and at a few inches away there is no difference. My other comment is if you want to print photos then use the best premium laser paper you can find. (not all purpose office paper)

Setup was super easy. I plugged in the USB cable and W8 automatically recognized it. (no drivers to load) I did not try wireless since I have no need.

One of the negatives is that there are currently no aftermarket toner cartridge options. However you can refill the starter cartridges and reset them without replacing chips or reset gears. It's all done from...

Very light use
Just got this printer and am happy with it. The picture quality is ok but I don't print many pictures.

  • Print Resolution: Up to 600 x 600 dpi Print Technology Resolution: HP ImageREt 3600
  • Monthly Volume (Duty Cycle): Up to 40,000 pages

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great Printer Quality
The HP Color LaserJet Pro 400 (M451dw) is a printer that has it all. It produces terrific quality prints, at least for a laser printer.

Its key features is that it is wireless and does double-sided printing automatically. You can place the printer anywhere in your home or office and it will print beautiful copies. It uses 4 toners that print up to 2600 pages for color or up to 4000 pages for black with its high yield toner.

My previous printer was the C P2025dn which I owned for 3-1/2 years and never had a problem with, except for 2 jams in its 46,000 page run. I find that amazing! Yes, jams are easy to correct by popping open the rear of the printer.

I only have 3 negative concerns. This printer comes with 4 starter cartridges that print only 1400 pages each. When you are paying close to $500 for a printer, wouldn't you think that they would include full cartridges? The previous model noted above did come with full toners. Of course, HP does...

2. Great printer for the home office and more!
I just purchased this printer through Amazon and received it today. I can't tell you how easy it was to set it up. Also, I had it connected correctly to my home network in about 2 minutes. I am using it with my iMac, and print successfully from my iPhone and iPad. It's quiet, fast also and the quality is nothing short of outstanding. For the size, which easily fits on my credenza, it is unsurpassed in print quality for brochures, general graphics, and text. I couldn't be happier with this HP quality product.

Simple to install
I purchased the HP M451DQ Laser Jet Pro 400 color wireless photo printer from Amazon, after reviewing other manufacturers and reading reviews of various items carefully. I selected the HP line because of excellent product experience at my various businesses. The laser printers, in particular, have been quite robust and provide years of trouble free service. i required a wireless application, to enable use throughout my office area. I was a little leary of the M451DW at first, since a fair number of reviews indicated that connectivity was an issue. Since i have a mix of MacBooks, PCs, iPhones and iPads at the office, I was a bit worried about this. No need, when I set up the machine and turned it on, I simply plugged it into my server, and off it went, for all of my "computers." I can now print from iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, and PCs. Amazing! The reason for the 4 star rating rather than 5 star is that the product shipped without full ink cartridges, and I did not see any...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Mediocre Laser Printer from Canon.
The imageCLASS MF8280cw printer is definitely not your average home printer. Unfortunately because the cassette holding only 150 sheets of paper it's not really much of a business printer either.

Make sure you have a friend around to help you move and set up this printer. You're also going to need a sturdy place to put it. At almost 60 pounds and measuring 17" x 19" it's quite a beast and will take up quite a bit of table/desk top real estate.

Print speed, advertized at 14 ppm, is good but not all that fast. Print quality of text is, as are most laser printers, exceptional. Print quality of images on the other hand is poor. I've tried numerous color profiles and settings on board the printer but I haven't been able to achieve color matching that I would even call fair let alone good. Even printing simple pie charts with specific colors (red, green, blue, etc.) set by their decimal numbers the color output was off. Blues are too dark. Yellows are orangeish. Grey...

2. Wow! Magnificent color at a great price! Thanks Canon and Amazon!
Finally decided to upgrade to laser color for my small business. Very important I had excellent quality color for presentations and creating brochures. Wow, this little guy fit the bill perfectly, my only issues is once I put in on the wifi, now everyone wants to use because of the beautiful color quality. I fixed that issue, but just setting it up as a local printer to my laptop with USB connection. Still learning some of the features, but super impressed.

A useful (but slow) color laser printer - that would make a decent printing, scanning and copying tool for small or home offices
This is a nice 4-in-1 laser printer, that does an good job copying, scanning and printing text in both color and black and white, and a very good job with images. It's crisp and clear - ideal for high quality and professional looking materials.

It's not very fast - does a little bit less than the advertised 14 pages per minute. It can print and copy from either the standard paper tray, or a custom feed slot, in case you want to use specialty paper for a print or copy job. When copying and scanning you can use the flatbed or place a small stack of papers in the tray on top and it will feed them through one by one.

Instructions are clear and easy to follow. It's easy to install the driver with the included disc, and to set up the printer on a wireless network. It's very heavy, but comes well-packed and well-secured with various pieces of tape that you need to remove before plugging it in. It also comes with the toner drums, that are easy to install: just drop them...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Printing, copying good, scanning could be better
The hardware is very good, the printing and copying functions work well. The software install was painless, but you will have to devote some time to proper setup. The major flaw with this printer is that when you scan, you must place your documents in the ADF or flatbed, then hit scan, then select remote scanning, then click OK on the printer's control panel. Once you've done that you have to go to your computer and initiate the scan. Even if you program the dedicated scan buttons, you must navigate thru the control panel of the printer with at least a five step process to get the scan to complete. On my old non-Canon MFC, all I had to do was put my documents into the scanner tray, go to my computer and click the scan button once to get the same results as it takes this Canon 5 or 6 steps to do the same. The work flow is not good, that's really why I gave it three stars.

2. Great Printer, complicated network solution
Does a great job printing, scanning, and faxing. The issue im having is their new Esend feature is hard to set up and that is what made me purchase this product. The UI is confusing and the manual is vague. But if your looking for a workhorse this is it.

Fantastic MF Printer
The Canon printer is a fantastic piece; it prints, scans, copies, and faxes well. Image quality on it is as good or better as the significantly more expensive Xerox Phaser at my office; the unit is smaller, a little slower (though not much) from cold start, and works well across my relatively complex home/Work-at-Home office.

The software is intuitive for what it's tailored for; a LAN admin in a small office. I have probably 60% of the options configured across the six PCs, two tablets, and two smartphones in the house within a few hours of work. It's not as simple as HP's home software, but it's much more configurable; that comes at a cost of ease. Some people like choices, some people like simplicity. I'm in the former category.

I'm addressing the software first because people seem to have had many gripes on that end. I'm replacing a Konica Minolta color duplexing laser; everyone who complains about the Canon software should step into that camp for a few days...

1. A really great printer for home or office!
I recently talked my employer into purchasing this printer for me to replace a very old, very slow HP LaserJet that was seemingly first made when dinosaurs roamed the earth (circa 2005 AD). I used the online ratings to choose it, and I'm so glad I did!

So far, it has been great. It is very fast; the first sheet prints out in less than 10 seconds. The color is beautiful... photos print out rich and life-like. There is a setting to lessen paper curl, which was a real problem with my old printer. It easily handles manual feeds for labels, envelopes and the like (load face up and top forward). And, best of all, it features automatic two-sided duplexing (important for printing double sided newsletters or other marketing materials). In summary, it's everything I wanted in my new printer!

That being said, there is one thing to note, however... it was a complete BEAR to install. Initially, I called my IT company to install the driver from the website (yes, there was a...

2. Great Printer for ePrint and Apple AirPrint
I was recently introduced to the function of AirPrinting with our iPads and iPhones. As soon as I saw how easy and functional it was, I had to have a printer that was capable of performing. After some extensive research and checking out many different models, I made the plunge to get this printer. We use both Macs and PC's in our home and found that it was a little difficult to get the printer setup initially with the Mac but once we set it up with the PC, it took about 15 minutes. There's also a really easy to use "ePrint" app that you can get from the Apple Store which allows you to print anything remotely from your phone. Finally, you can even setup an email address where anyone can print to your printer if they send an attachment to your email address setup for printing.

All in all, a good printer. I would have given it 5 stars if I could have set it up with the Mac and saved 30 minutes but all in all, a good experience.

Be careful
This printer worked great, except it wasn't what I expected. The other review on this product talks about auto duplexing. THIS PRINTER DOES NOT AUTO DUPLEX. You're looking for the DW model if you want the auto duplexing.

Other than that, it's a solid printer that prints fast and easily connects to a wireless network. Be sure to look around online for installing instructions of the software though - you need to disable the auto-install feature of the printer because the pre-installed software on the printer itself is corrupted from what I understand.

1. Awesome printer, Brother is a little bit ah' sneaky though
This is for a small/medium business. We came from the HP Color Laser Jet CP3505n which was the same price. The HP I think prints slightly faster & the quality is slightly better, but it only does printing (and single page at that). This brother on the other hand has a slew of awesome options that we needed & prints more than fine. We needed a scanner that could scan to network folders & ftp locations. This printer works awesome for that. It actually replaced a $150 scanner we had because it's so easy w/ the brother. The duplexing features have come in handy plenty of times too. Fax machine is pretty standard, no issues there. For the 1st month or 2, this printer seemed like baby jesus in my eyes, it could do no wrong.. until ....
One day I went to change out the black toner, and ran into a big problem. When I replaced the black toner, it was not recognizing that the toner had been changed & was now full. It would just obnoxiously blink "REPLACE TONER" & do nothing else. I...

2. Initial Review
If had to describe this multifunction device in one word it would be "incredible". Since this is a fairly complicated device I will not be able to cover all uses of it but hope to give people some useful information regarding it. This is somewhat brief review on usage since I just received it but want to inform people of my initial impression.

Background:
This MFC device is going to be used by Mac OS X systems that are connected to the local network via ethernet and Wi-Fi. The MFC is connected to this network via Wi-Fi through an Apple Airport Express Base Station. I am hoping to replace both a Canon CanoScan 8600F scanner and Canon Pixma Inkjet printer.

Size, Weight, & Packaging:
The box it comes in is fairly large and heavy. The location of the "handles" built into the box is designed for two people to pick it up and I would highly suggest having two people carry it. I managed to carry into the house myself but it was extremely awkward and...

Could be a great machine, or below average, depending on your needs.
I had this AIO for 11 months. Overall, it's a decent machine but it does have drawbacks, some of which can be quite annoying. First, set up was simple and flawless. I have it set up wirelessly with both Mac's and PC's on my network and all machines connected to this printer without a hitch. Faxing works well and I loved the TAD feature which allows you to have an answering machine and this fax to operate on the same phone line. The machine sorts out the calls and allows faxes to come in or sends the call to the answering machine automatically for voice callers. It worked correctly every time. Also, you can send faxes while receiving them, and send several faxes to different locations one after another without having to wait for the previous transmission to complete. Nice. Very efficient.

The scanner worked well and sent scans directly to the destination flawlessly whether it was to a computer screen, file folder, or via ftp. Scans were fairly quick. The major...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Greatest Value in Color Laser
This is the 4th color laser I've owned. The first two were Konica-Minolta. They were among the first affordable ones in the market (still expensive) and one of them, Magicolor 2300dl, does a decent job considering the technology of its time. The second and smaller one, Magicolor 2400, died in a couple of year and was slow. The third one is HP 2025, which is much smaller (of course still much bigger than color inkject printers.) and it prints duplex. But it takes an hour to print a full page double-sided color brochure. Even though the color output is vibrant, the speed is miserable. So if I want 10 copies of full color image, I have to let it print over night. I will use these printers until their drum lives end, and will sell or give away instead of spending more money on them.

One main feature I want out of a color laser is duplex printing. I decided to try Brother HL-4150CDN because it was sold for $250 on Amazon.com (surprised to see the price went up to $370...

2. rock solid
I bought this printer 1 week ago. As per one of the other reviewers, this unit has some heft to it. It comes with full cartridges, not starter cartridges. The color and sharpness are excellent. I've been using a monochrome HP 1020 laserjet for the last few years. there's a definite improvement in the sharpness of the text. When the machine comes out of its sleep mode, it is louder than I anticipated, and was even a bit shocked at first. Also, it takes about 15 sec to print its first page. I got this for about $280 through Staples and am pleased with the price paid and the performance of this unit. I expect many years of use, which is strictly in the home setting. Setup was simple. This is networked to my home network though an ethernet cable. I have 1 computer running Window 7 and 2 others running Win XP home. all of them found the printer on the network without any glitches. It was much easier to set up than trying to "share" a non-networked printer. I gave it 4 stars because of the...

so far, so good!
This is a new printer from Brother and I was a little nervous because there were no reviews for it. Bought this printer locally for $299 plus a $50 trade-in, bringing my price to a very reasonable $250 plus tax. First, it is a sizable printer, so you need some room for it. It is also fairly heavy, which hopefully implies a more substantial product. None of the parts, such as the paper tray or manual feed extension, feel flimsy at all. Setup instructions were trivial and I was printing in under 30 minutes, including assigning an IP address.

I used the CD to install the print drivers on two windows 7 machines and they installed successfully with no issues. The printer comes with four starter cartridges and the print quality is very sharp, IMO.

I will provide additional updates as I use this printer more, but after 7 days and 100 pages of printing, I am extremely pleased with this printer!

Update - 1/19/2011. Machine continues to operate well. I...

1. Excellent & Easy
I bought this as a Christmas present after doing much research. I was looking for a laserjet vs. inkjet, required wireless networking support, a decent sized paper input tray, (ideally a full ream, but negotiable), and of course, it had to be multi-function.

I purchased this one as a Christmas gift, and have had it setup & running for a few days now. Setup was very easy and took less than 15 minutes. It found my wireless network and I was able to configure it easily. I did get momentarily confused during setup as the process directed you to update the firmware to get the latest/greatest functionality and to enable ePrint. But the printer wasn't listed in the printers supporting ePrint, which led me to a brief online chat session with HP's support. Essentially they directed me to ignore that step, and I was able to confirm that ePrinting was functional, (the ePrint logo on the control panel clearly indicates the printer supports ePrint - so the website is simply...

2. Beware of replacement reconditioned units from HP.
I purchased this printer because its size is ideal for my limited office space. But I must caution buyers who receive a defective unit to immediately return it to the seller rather than involving HP Tech Support. In my case, the printer had a major print quality problem, so HP shipped a reconditioned replacement very promptly. That unit didn't initialize properly and failed to recognize the toner cartridges from the original one. After another call to another Tech Support representative, a second reconditioned unit arrived that had the same problem. After a final call to Tech support when the representative suggested that I purchase new cartridges to try (they would waive expedited shipping charges!) I decided to return the original printer to the seller for exchange with a new unit.

The replacement unit had no print quality problems but the HP Smart Install software that should be present in the printer had not been installed so I couldn't configure wireless networking...

Terrific Printer
I did a lot of homework on many printers before I bought this. I was pleasantly surprised by the complete user experience. This machine is really terrific. It was easy to use, and easy to set up. (Note: I had a glitch setting up eprint, but the web page said somewhere that if you update the firmware first, then it would work, which it did. The documentation is on the sparse side, but it still went pretty smooth.) It prints via wifi, over the air, and it scans over the air too, which is really cool. The eprint (to print by sending the printer an email) had some delays some times.

BTW, Amazon does sell inexpensive toner refills (which I did not try yet myself, but t hey have good reviews.) So this should keep operating costs down.

It is just an absolute pleasure to use, and it gets the job done, easy and quick. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, and I am buying this for my office colleagues as well.

1. Excellent printer, works with Linux
I am using this printer over the network with machines running Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10. It works very well (although I have not printed to fax). Printing is fast --- the first page typically takes just a few seconds --- and scanning over the network works on both machines.

My only complaint (the reason I have docked a star) is that it took me a while to figure out installation for 12.04. What ultimately worked was downloading and running the hplip install script from hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/downloads.html. This was necessary even though hplip was already installed. I do appreciate HP's Linux support, but it's disappointing that they are moving in the direction of using closed-source binary blobs. My Office Jet Pro 8600 at home (also an MFP) did not require a driver plug-in and scanning etc works fine.

You can see the level of linux support for all HP's printers at this page: hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/supported_devices/combined.html. Very informative...

2. Very Happy!
For new home based insurance agency, did a marathon online research on AOI printers (still have a 7 year old HP 7300 AIO for backup and color). Bought the m425dn 2 weeks ago.

Was initially swayed by some negative reviews (mostly from late 2012 before firmware release), but decided to buy this unit vs. lower cost HP 8600 Plus Inkjet AIO and other highly rated AIO Lasers because:
- did not need or want to mess with color ink cartridges
- duplex scanning
- very fast scanning (and printing)
- recommended up to 3,000 pages per mo. (50k monthly duty cycle)
- widely available non-oem toner cartridges at 25% HP toner cost for VERY LOW costs per page /
- high toner print page capacity (6700 pages with "x" toner)
- gigabit network speed nice
- ePrint / print to cloud / network
- color scanning
- 2nd tray for envelopes / other paper - 50 pages
- Expandable 250 page input tray option

So far VERY happy. Setup was a...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Overall excellent choice for the SOHO/Workgroup
Not perfect, but I'm very pleased overall. You are paying a premium to have a truly all-in-one device, but the M475dw is a well rounded duplex color laser MFP, and a strong competitor in its class. You do get some very nice features not available in less expensive printers. Build quality is generally very good but some of the internals show signs of a few cut corners.

Pros:
- Extremely simple install. Place it on your table, remove the protective tape and film, and power it on. The printer automatically registers itself on the network and you can download the drivers direct from its web interface - no CDs required.
- Print quality is better than expected. Brochures print in vivid colors and negligable banding. Photos are a bit on the soft side, but better than expected color gradience provides overall impressive results for a laser printer of this class.
- Negligable paper curl (some curl is expected in any laser printer)
- HP's ePrint service...

2. Printer is Great, Scanner Jams
I run a business that requires me to print both legal and letter sized documents in each print job, so I researched dual tray printers and decided on the HP LaserJet Pro 475dw with the optional second drawer. The printer itself works extremely well. Unfortunately, the page feeder for the scanner is unreliable and jams frequently. It doesn't matter if it's loaded with three sheets of paper or 30, it will start scanning and more often than not jam while feeding pages through the scanner. When scanning multiple pages, it will cancel the scan job when a jam occurs (instead of allowing you to fix the jam and resuming scanning). Also, the scanner frequently feeds pages in askew, so they don't scan straight. I've been using Brother MFC machines for the past eight years and never had as many scanning problems with those machines as I do with this new HP. I love the printer, but am sorely disappointed with the scanning feature. If you need to scan large sets of documents, I encourage...

Working great with Macs / Apple
I have had the printer for 3 weeks now, and not have had any major issues. I use the printer with a iMac (mountain lion), Macbook (lion), iPhone 3, Ipad2 and new Ipad. I have not tested with windows or linux.

Why not 5 stars?
1) many people discount 5 star ratings as fake
2) online documentation states there is an email scan option, but it's not actually present (at least for Mountain Lion)
3) printer reports out of paper when there is still some paper remaining in tray. Maybe this can be calibrated, but I haven't figured out how, yet.

I could not find this model in any of the local office supply stores, but i did test several printers using the copy function. By far, I found the HP printers produced a better image (also tried brother, cannon, and one other brand that i can't recall). I ordered this model as I liked the LJ Pro 300, and this is an updated version. Setup was easy and only took about 15 minutes, but did require a USB connection until...

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Toner Reset Instructions Now Included, Printer is finally decent!
First, this printer is not for people who will be printing tons. If you are printing anywhere near 1000 pages a week, you might want to look at a printer that holds larger toner. If you just print a moderate amount, and want an all in one, this is for you. Great for a home office or very small business. Ok...

At last, what we have been waiting for, it's rather simple...
** TO RESET TONER **
This will make your printer believe it has a brand new toner. Once it says toner low, you can reset it and just print until it runs dry, instead of replacing the toner when you still have 500 prints left.

1) Get to the home screen, if you are stuck at the "Toner Low" or "Replace Toner" message, just press the red X
2) Press the FAX button on the touch screen. This is ONLY to light up the numbers so you can....
3) LOCATE and only locate, don't press, the * (asterisk) button. You know where it is now, somewhere to the right of the Red X button
4)...

2. I love Brother Products especially this new wireless printer
I needed an all in one printer that was efficient and sharp, The scanner and copier are easy to use from my iMac.

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Excellent printer for small office
We recently picked up one of the M451dn printers for use in our small business. We were using a Brother laser printer for most of our printing - and then switching to an Epson inkjet whenever we needed color.

Aside from having 2 printers, the main problems we were having were: the Brother printers in general tend to ruin envelopes and the Epson inkjets cost a fortune to run.

The main requirements we had for this printer included:

- Needed to be accessible through the network. Wireless doesn't matter at all - it just needs to be on the network.
- Good color capability
- Duplex printing - most of the documents we print are required by law to be duplex, and it's cheaper anyway since it saves paper
- Good envelope handling - As I already mentioned, I love Brother laser printers in general; but, they really do wrinkle up envelopes pretty badly
- Color printing needed to be less expensive than an inkjet - I know it's still more...

2. Great Printer - Insufficient Memory
I bought the HP M451dn printer after doing a bunch of research. However, none of the reviews explained that this printer only comes with 128mb of memory. Within a few days of operation one of our sales guys kept getting "out of memory" messages. The standard memory places (Crucial, Newegg etc) did not carry the extra 256mb memory modules. HP sells it for almost $600! I found what I needed at Parts-Quick.com for $13.99. The person I talked to was very helpful- a former HP person. I now have 384mb of memory and no problems. Why doesn't HP put enough memory in this one???
The memory you will need is CB423A HP 256MB DDR2 144-pin DIMM Code: EV_CB423A at Part-Quick - It was only after I did hours of research that I found Parts-Quick. The same module is available from Parts-Quick through Amazon but the Amazon description does NOT mention the HP M451dn as a model that this memory works with. See my similar review at the Amazon memory module page.

Great printer, but invasive software
I bought this printer a week ago, and so far I think highly of it, especially the duplex printing feature. However, I am very disappointed with HPs invasive software for detecting authentic cartridges. Google "HP print cartridge authentication" to learn more. They do a good job of selling the benefits, but after some additional searching, it's easy to see that a number of people have had unintended consequences--nothing earth shattering, but annoying time wasters nonetheless.

I have been clicking the "Decline" button (even though I buy HP Print cartridges), because I don't want big brother watching over me. If at some point I choose to take the risk and buy a third party cartridge, that's my business, not theirs. The real reason they are doing this is to force users to buy their expensive cartridges (that's where they really make their money).

I can overlook the sales pitch to install their monitoring program as long as they honor my decision to decline to...

  • Up to 2400 x 600 dpi resolution
  • USB direct interface

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great Quality + Fast Color Printing, but a "Toner Hog"
The Brother HL4570cdw is a fantastic printer for everyday and office use. This is my first Brother purchase. I'm using it to print out full colored brochures (graphics, photos, and text). So far it's been more than adequate when using the appropriate paper i.e. glossy paper. When on regular paper, the colors are not as sharp and pictures are not as clear. For photos, the resolution quality is acceptable/good, but there is a noticeable difference in quality from a print shop and a heavy duty office printer (you know the 5 foot jumbo printers).

As for print speeds, from start to finish it prints at an above average pace. The spooling process is quick (less than 2 minutes) for a 80 mb print job. It printed a 60 page, full color (vivid mode), double sided booklet in about 8-10 minutes.

PROS
- Easy printer and wireless Setup (less than 5 minutes).
- Good print speeds (auto-duplex and straight printing).
- Excellent print quality for general...

2. Best mid-range laser printer with curling paper problem
I hope the one message I can get out to everyone is that printers are one of the most undependable machines that anyone can look to purchase. I run a home business and I made the mistake of spending well over $1k a few years back for a Konica Minolta 5430DL. It was a beauty of a printer, but shortly after spending nearly $600 in replacement cartridges the printer started falling apart.

What I learned is that even the priciest printers break. This is more of a disposable technology than something you can hand down to your kids. When all the printer companies play the game of selling printers with limited ink cartridges and then charging you more than the printer itself for refills, you know that the only way to come out ahead is to buy the best bang-for-the-buck printer with the expectation that it's only going to last a few short years.

I believe the Brother HL4570 is that kind of printer.

For $400 I knew I was buying something mid-range. It would...

Great Color Laser But VERY Expensive Toner
I purchased this in November 2010 and have had for 5 months. I wanted to give it 3.5 stars, but Amazon doesn't allow half stars. While the purchase price was a VERY good value, the price of the replacement toner and insistence of the system to force you to replace the cartridge even when they clearly still contain ink is very frustrating.

PROS:
1. Reasonably priced for a wireless color laser
2. Excellent color documents
3. Relatively fast
4. Prints double-sided
5. Wi-Fi

CONS:
1. VERY expensive refills. I don't print that much and all 4 cartridges have run out in 5 months. The replacement cost for the 4 cartridges is $200. Because it's a relatively new model, it doesn't appear there are options other than to buy genuine Brother Products.
2. The printer just stops working when it deems that the toner cartridges need to be replaced. The documents I printed the day before looked great and so I can't believe all 3 color...

  • Wireless, Ethernet and USB interfaces
  • Automatic duplex print/copy/scan/fax
  • 5" Color Touch Panel display
  • Up to 2400 x 600 dpi resolution

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Don't Buy Genuine Brother Toners!
This printer is great and worth 5 stars based on the printer's abilities alone, seriously, but Brother is a apparently "very enthusiastic" about regularly (and frequently) replacing half-full toners with new Genuine Brother toners, to the tune of about $70-80 each. Yeah, right. I happily bought a refill kit which has worked fantastically in both volume and print quality. I'm not changing, nor am I wasting an extra $150-$200 every 2-3 months for my toners.

I'm writing this review because a Brother Customer Support Technician wouldn't help me reset my toners. After hearing his lecture on Genuine Brother Toners and his adamant denial to help, I offered him an analogy. I simply asked if he went to a car dealership for "Genuine" oil, brakes, service, etc. EVERY TIME he had his car serviced. He of course had no answer after recognizing his own hypocrisy. So, to help others that may end up in my situation, here's how to reset your toners.

If you have the starter...

2. Excellent printer for small business (See tip below on how to make your toner last longer!)
We previously had 4 laser printers that have lasted no more than a year or so each. After becoming very tired of buying the cheap throw-away units, we decided to replace our old copy machine with an All-In-One. After a bit of research, the MFC-9970 seemed to be be the best choice. Although it is quite large, we have never looked back. It has been the best machine any of us have ever used! Perfect touch screen, beautiful prints, fast, and it seems to do everything and everyone loves it! The only complaint I would have had (that's resolved now), is that the toner didn't seem to go very far before seeing the "toner is low, replace soon" message. We ran it until it refused to print another copy, and then replaced the toner. After following the instructions in the manual to a 'T', we replaced the toner and closed the access door. After the first copy, we got the same message that the toner was low. After looking through the manual and every menu, it appeared there was no place to 'reset'...

Good but not great. Read Update
I have two other Brother printers. One is an all-in-one inkjet and the other is a black and white laser printer. I've been happy with both of them and never had any problems. They did a fairly good job, but I wanted something a little better and thought a color laser printer would be the way to go.

This Brother MFC-9970CDW has good and bad points. First, the black printed letters are crisp and sharp. However, the color photos are only slightly above average in quality. Plus, there is some slight banding (lines) on solid prints. The banding is not too bad and hardly noticeable, but it should not do that. And I have tried everything the manual said to correct the problem, but nothing helped. Anyway, I can live with it.

The biggest complaint I have is the curling of the paper. Another reviewer is correct. The heavier weight the paper, the more severe the curling.

The speed for duplex printing is 6 pages in 1 minute and that is with plain text on one side...
