Bargain C1660W 12/10 ppm 600 x 600 dpi Wireless Network Color Laser Printer

Laser Printers, Dell, PRNT DELL C1660W COLOR PRINTER LIBERTY WIFI REPLA, 5V05D

This Laser Printers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Good printer but buy extra cartridges
I bought this printer to avoid having to pay for copies to be made for an election season. Unfortunately the starter cartridge that came with the printer (black ink) shut down after only roughly 250 copies. After checking OfficeMax, Staples, WalMart, Meijer and Catridge World it appears that NO ONE carries these toner cartridges. It prints documents very nicely, but make sure that you order replacement cartridges at the time of purchase or you will be stuck waiting for another online shipment.

Also, apparently Dell cartridges contain a chip that must be replaced when you add ink (so it's not as easy for places like Cartridge World to do a refill). That chip tells the printer how many more copies can be made - regardless of how much ink is really still left....

2. Excellent Printer
The first printer was bought around Christmas time (2012) from an Amazon dealer,it had a bad USB port and was returned for a full refund. The second printer I bought directly from Dell at about the same price. It was installed with no problems whatsoever, however, I only use the USB port.
The only minor problem I have is that it does not print on paper stock weight over 45 pounds, I am not sure this is the exact figure, but it will not print on paper I use for my business cards.
Also, because this is a fairly new printer there are no aftermarket supply of toner cartridges but I'm sure this will change in the near future.
I am very pleased with both black and white and color prints.
This is a great printer at a fantastic price.

July 16, 2013, update:
I see that there are some aftermarket toner cartridges with the chips becoming available. That is great news. I'm still very happy with the printer.

Amazing color laser
I was looking for a color laser as I wanted color output but wasn't interested in an inkjet. I was tired of clogged printheads when using cheap ink or megabuck genuine cartridges for that matter. Never was happy with color output looking terrible on regular (cheap) paper, not to mention soggy sheets coming out that smeared in an instant.

Photo output of this machine is just great - I can print on regular copy paper and it looks really good, comparable or better than cheap inkjets especially if you prefer the matte finish look. If you're used to a color laser looking lousy on photos then you'll be in for a big surprise as Dell has done something to improve upon this.

Consumables appear high but a famous auction site sells refill toner bottles with reset chips. I haven't tried them myself (yet) but if they work fine then the consumable cost of this unit will be very low. No fear of clogged printheads either.

Wireless connection works reliably, unlike...
